Introduction Community Based Pulmonary Rehabilitation Patient Feedback July 2017 This report contains the results of the patient feedback exercise conducted in relation to the community based pulmonary rehabilitation programme. Following completion of the programme patients were asked to complete a short questionnaire. A total of 21 questionnaires were returned with the breakdown by clinic as follows: Summary of Results All respondents bar three found the venues convenient. A lack of public transport was cited by two respondents as to the reason to the inconvenience. 95% of respondents found the venues easy to find. All respondents felt the sessions were well planned. All respondents had enough opportunity to ask any questions. 86% of respondents felt more 'in control' of their breathlessness than before the programme. 76% of respondents noticed an improvement in their exercise tolerance. All respondents indicated that they intended to continue with their exercise programme.

Results by Question Is the venue convenient? One respondent from and two respondents from stated that the venue was not convenient: Would be far more convenient - distance and economically - if the location was in Wilmslow or Handforth. Transport i.e. bus from Knutsford is only every two hours - long time waiting sometimes. I have to rely on buses to get me to the hospital and I had great difficulty getting to and from the hospital because of the bus timetable. Did you have any problems parking? All parking problems were encountered by patients attending the clinic. Was the venue easy to find? One respondent did not find the venue easy to find. What do you think of the exercise area at the venue? Dual purpose room - i.e. baby clinic - meant that chairs stacked at one end of room restricted exercise area - erecting and stowing of equipment in a very limited cupboard space meant that Caroline's (assistant) active participation in class was limited. Roomy, plenty of seating, ideal. Good for purpose.

For the walking exercise - a bit tight. Very good, plenty of room, good environment. I cannot read or write so had difficulty finding the department. Adequate for what was needed. 100%. Adequate. Did you feel that the group session was well planned? Were there any aspects of the session that you felt required more time? Three respondents (2x and 1x) answered yes in response to this question however none of the respondents provided any additional information as to which aspects. Do you feel that you were given enough opportunity to ask any questions you may have had? If you brought someone with you did they find the session informative? Two respondents who attended the sessions said that someone accompanied them to the session and both said they found it useful. Do you feel more 'in control' of your breathlessness than you did before the programme? Have you noticed any difference in your exercise tolerance?

Do you intend to continue with your exercise programme? If so, how? All respondents that answered this question indicated that they intended to continue with their exercise programme: Yes, but in my own home. Yes - at Wilmslow Leisure Centre with classes for COPD patients Yes - it has got me motivated again Yes - exercise at home and COPD community exercise class Yes - at home Yes at home and at Wilmslow Centre. Yes - Leisure Centre referral. Yes, participate in further sessions and continue exercise programme at home. Yes walking. Possible - would like to. Yes - I already do some exercises at home and want to continue. Yes with local council programme. Probably, but at home. Walking. Yes - carry on exercising at home. At the gym and yoga classes. On a scale of 1-5 where 5 is 'extremely helpful' and 1 is 'not at all helpful' how would you rate the following aspects of the programme:

Are there any other topics you would like to be covered? Oriental exercise e.g. tai chi and chigong Availability of follow-on courses in written form Any other comments? I enjoyed the sessions! - the relaxed and happy atmosphere and the non-judgemental attitude of our course leader which was friendly but not too familiar - a well-balanced course of instruction - physical exercise was of huge benefit - assessment of performance through statistical analysis and motivated activity was expertly guided by our course leader (Carol Jones) - the professional expertise was abundantly evident during the whole course - Carol Jones should be congratulated - and her membership of your physiotherapy team is a valuable asset. Immensely valuable - I understand COPD far better than I did before. Thought the course was excellent - I certainly benefitted. It was worth doing. Worthwhile exercise. An extremely useful course of pulmonary rehabilitation. Staff friendly, helpful and caring - a very sociable group - everybody was made to feel welcome. Without the help of exercise and information and the confidence your staff have given me, I could not have been going out for a walk or shopping on my own. Knowing how to control my breathing whilst walking has given me a new lease of life - thank you to everyone. Good course - exercise made me feel better. It was very good because everyone was nice - the group was very pleasant and friendly - one of the members kindly took me home when he realised I had problems with the bus timetable.
