3 MEMBERSHIP We have 91 (0) voting memberships; 17 Business Memberships (+0), 8 Business Associates (-1) 47 Family (-3), 25 single (+2) and 2 single plus (+0); headcount is 278 (-5); 168 Adults (+0) and 112 (-3) children. We have new applications from John Hunt and Amy Stanovich. John Hunt has been nonresponsive; bounces and phone call was not returned. Application for Hunt has been tabled. David motioned and Dan seconded to approve Amy subject to approval from the Krewe. A letter was received by Dan Dennehy from Roger Golomb tendering their resignation from the Krewe. There was an issue with smoking on the float. The Dock House has been designated as a non-smoking float. Smoking on the main float is allowed and members should be considerate of other members. Business Memberships were discussed and it was clarified that a business membership consists of 3 family memberships. A principle and either 2 families as defined by the by laws as guests or as designated associates. Designated associates must follow our current established membership application process. Jeff DiPolito moved we eliminate our membership class of Business and Frank Fulghum seconded. Discussion ensued regarding the benefits of eliminating this type of membership by simplifying guest attendance. Motion was amended to state no more than 20 memberships can be Business memberships. Frank seconded. Approved Send to membership regarding cap on Business Memberships SOCIAL 35 people attended the February 12 th social and a total of $ was collected for the 50/50. Todd Leiser had potential members attend as guests. Kate
4 EVENTS Fun and Sun meeting was held earlier today and the City of Clearwater is encouraging us not to have a party this year. The parade will end at Myrtle and there are issues between the City and the Harbor view Center. Suggestions were made to see if Hooter s would like to sponsor a party. We would provide a tent and a band and the event would be cash bar and food. An alternative would be at O Keefe s and the City would likely help with closing Grand Central Street. The City s budget for the parade is $0 this year. Given the construction status of downtown and general economic conditions the City is not supporting the parade this year. Kate Daley suggested regardless of the parade we should continue the annual Margarita Madness party to not lose momentum. Dennis Regan of Ye Mystic Krewe of Neptune told Kate Daley that they will not participate in Fun n Sun. Kate offered to let any Neptune members walk with us. The Edisons are booked for our party and the Ball. There is a meeting at Carlouel tomorrow. Ren Fest opportunity has been passed on due to resource and time constraints. IMAGE AND COMMUNICATIONS UPDATE Our sponsorship package needs to be revisited. Maybe we should drop our prices and see if we have better response. Vickie shared the Clinic s schedule and it starts at $ and goes to $10, low to high. We started at medium and went to high. We need to consider soliciting more participation for this committee. Frank will ask the Daniel s if they are interested in helping. TREASURER S REPORT Accounts receivable were reviewed. We have 4 memberships that likely will not renew from members that do not participate. The sinking fund still has sufficient funds to cover the expenditures for the Dock House.
5 COMMUNITY SERVICE Cooper s Bayou clean up is this Saturday from and we have people. The Dunedin parade event is at Mease Continuing Care which is not near the staging area. When the arrangements were made staging was within walking distance. Paul suggested we take the float and have a 20 minute visit and then take the float to staging. In May, Largo would like us back at the Aquatic Center and the Homeless Emergency project is also on the horizon for May or June. Jerry distributed a request from the Clearwater Food Bank for contributions for the Foundation to consider. BEADS New bead policy was distributed and well received. There were significantly less beads to unload after the Knight Parade. An additional 450 cases of beads have been ordered. Another 150 cases of green beads for St. Patrick s Day are here. Amy Teso praised the new policy and said she appreciated the efforts especially to eliminate the suitcases. FLOATS Bead loading for Mardi Gras is Monday from 3-5 and Tuesday from 2-4. Food is being supplied by members. Hurricanes will be served for this parade only.
6 PARADES Bradenton and Springtime in Tallahassee. Bead loading for Mardi Gras is Monday from 3-5 and Tuesday from 2-4. Food is being supplied by members. Hurricanes will be served for this parade only. One float and two bartenders will be at Mardi Gras. St Patrick s Day parade food suggestion is for Tacos from the Taco Shop. Or maybe, Corn Beef? Augustina has offered we parade with them at Tallahassee for a cost of approximately $20.00 per head. Or we could take the Dock House. How many people would justify taking the Dock house? We need to first determine interest in attending. The event is a 4 day weekend starting on Thursday and culminating with the parade. It s a fun event because you get to learn about another whole Krewe community. There is participation from the Gulfcoast and some northern states. This event conflicts with Festival States. Paul suggested drafting an agenda and presenting to the Krewe to gauge interest. Bradenton is April 27 th and Jeff will also draft an agenda to solicit interest. IKC Rough Riders Trolley hop is March 16 th and Amy Teso can get a block of $20.00 each which is a discount of $5.00 each. Neptune has asked if we are interested in them participating on bus costs with us. We should pursue this as an opportunity. Should we consider getting blocks of rooms? Yes, we should check with what s available for Tallahassee and Bradenton as a start. Amy will write up an for the Trolley Hop NEW BUSINESS Jeff s resignation from the Free Clinic was acted on today by the Clinic and the position has now been voted upon to become a liaison only spot. Jerry MacDonald volunteered to attend the Clinic meetings as our liaison.
