Greet friends & MEET new members. Members: This month make sure you find someone you would like to know better, a new member or guest, and introduce yourself. New Members/Guests: If you are a new member/guest, approach someone you don t know and introduce yourself. Learn a little about the other person and share a bit about yourself! 2 Tickets for the Scandinavian Holiday Raffle Basket will be on sale at the beginning of the meeting and during the meeting. The basket will contain fabrics, patterns, and other assorted Scandinavian treats. The drawing will be at the end of the meeting. Tickets are $1 or 6 for $ Program Sneak Peek Color Our World in 2016! Color Our World is the theme for our opportunity baskets for Each month we will build a basket around a different color. We are looking for scraps, notions, or other fun items to include. Scraps don't need to be large. We will be running scraps through the AccuQuilt! so anything 2" x 2" can be turned into a shape. (Something in the 6-7" square range gives us more options.) We're hoping to get more variety than our stash offers so our winners have the makings for sensational scrap quilts. We will get an overview of just about everything Wool from shopping at thrift stores to dying wool. February 23, 2016 DeeAnn Haworth, President-of-the-Month Let s Get Acquainted & 2016 Preview Fat Quarter Raffle! This month s theme is What Was I Thinking! Bring your fat quarter(s) in order to participate! Food Pantry Donations at Holiday Meeting Services and programs by Westerville Area Resource Ministry ( are dedicated to providing dignity and hope while restoring self-sufficiency. Addressing the growing concerns of poverty and hunger, the non-profit has existed in Westerville for 43 years. At WQG s holiday meeting, by collecting boxed cereal (cold or hot) and canned fruit donations, we will assist WARM s December food pantry drive. All WQG members are encouraged to bring donations to help feed hungry families in the Westerville area. Volume 11, No 11 November/December 2015 Page 2

3 Service Committee 1. Blankets for Veterans! Pick up some fleece at Jo-Anns to make a blanket for a Veteran. Size should be 54 x 54 using two pieces of fleece stitched easily with a ball point needle and zig zag stitch. Thanks to Abby for this tip. These blankets can be for men or women. 2. Service committee will collect pillowcases and fidget quilts at the Dec. meeting. Sew I hope we can finish this year with a new record. The contributions this year have been wonderful! Thanks Aggie Peterson No Measure Bargello January and February Workshops Limited Spots Still Available! Two winter workshop options (day and evening) are available for the No Measure Bargello quilt. Check out the Cozy Quilt website ( for pattern information and to view a YouTube video. Sign up now for the Tuesday, January 12, 10 AM to 4 PM option OR the Tuesday evening option on February 9 & 16, 6 PM to 9 PM. Red Rooster in Dublin will provide the location and the instructor. The cost is $23.00 for the workshop plus $10.25 for the pattern. Please make your checks out to Westerville Quilt Guild. At the December meeting, the preordered patterns will be distributed to members previously registered for the workshops. Scrappy Share a Square = Win a Bunch Block Raffles For the upcoming year, the 2016 Fun with Fabric Committee has adopted the share a square idea from the 2015 program survey. Here s the scoop for the first block raffle: 12 ½ (finish at 12 ) heart block* ( web.archive.org/web/ / bvqsbomfeb3.htm) Prewashed scrappy reds and/or pink fabrics for the heart with Kona white (# ) as the background At the December meeting, raffle block samples will be displayed by the committee. Kona white big fat quarters (limited availability at $1.50) will also be available to purchase. Just in time for Valentine s Day, the block raffle will be held at our January meeting. Members may submit one or two blocks for the raffle. *Usually only the website address will be provided. However, to get you started, the block instructions are included with this newsletter.
