Who could ask for more perfect weather and setting for our annual reunion picnic? The burgers and hot dogs were flame broiled to perfection, the sides were excellent (no surprises in Rehab 1) and the desserts were scrumptious. 2 Volunteers Needed Dallas Stair Climbing Event September 11th, 2011 marks the tenth anniversary of a day that most of us promised to never forget. Join us as 343 firefighters from the north Texas region are supported by members of the community, coming together for a day of extreme physical challenge and intense reflection in a truly inspirational setting. Together we will honor New York's bravest who sacrificed their lives on September 11, 2001, and help support the families who survived them. On the morning of September 11th, 2011 firefighters from around the north Texas region will converge upon a downtown Dallas skyscraper, don their protective gear and climb 110 stories into the sky to honor the sacrifices of the 343 FDNY firefighters who perished ten years ago. Each firefighter will be given a badge with a biographical sketch and name of a FDNY firefighter who gave their life on September 11th. The visual image of firefighters climbing a high-rise building in full protective gear will serve as a vivid reminder of the sacrifice, dedication and commitment required of firefighters to protect their communities around world. The stair climbing is only open to active firefighters but there are other ways to help out. For information on how you can volunteer to help, go to Driving Training for Fire 1 If you are interested in taking driving training for Fire 1, please contact Steve Dossett. New Rehab members are encouraged to take this opportunity. Fill the Gap Update We now have Donated by the Richardson CFAAA cards to go in the Fill the Gap item bags. Thanks to all those who have generously donated to our Fill the Gap Program. We now have plenty of soap, shampoo, conditioner! What we need now are these items: Hair brushes (adult and child), hand sanitizer, men s deodorant, BABY shampoo. If you have any of these, please bring them to next meeting on July 26. Share your ideas for fund raising. Page 2

3 President s Message Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer! July 4 th was a huge success! Fire One Rehab was out at Breckenridge Park with shade tents/misting fans etc. It was a wonderful crowd and a great night for celebrating our Independence Day. Thanks to everyone that assisted in making it another great event. We had a fabulous turnout for our CFAAA Reunion Picnic at Huffhines Pavilion we had almost 60 in attendance! This picnic is a great gathering of ALL former CFA class members, if you missed it this year, don t miss next! I personally enjoyed meeting so many folks from various classes. Plus, be sure to mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 27 th. CFAAA is hosting the Joint picnic with CPAAA. The picnic will be held out at the Fire Training Center. More details coming soon! Plus = We will soon be having a training session for the Fire 1 Rehab Team, if you re interested in being part of this group that assists with the rehab of our firefighters, please let me know. Once we get a listing of the interested folks, we ll schedule a date for training. Hope to see you all at next week s General Meeting! Thank you for all you do to help our amazing firefighters! Have an awesome day! Donna Donna.leach@cor.gov CFAAA Board Meeting Schedule for 2011 "Board meetings are open to any CFAAA member.
