4 Thursday, September 11, 2008 (cont.) 2:30 PM - 2:45 PM MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ACT: SETTING THE CONTEXT FOR PREVENTION AND EARLY INTERVENTION...Mediterranean II Will Rhett-Mariscal, PhD, MS -, Center for Multicultural Development, The prevention and early intervention (PEI) component of the MHSA represents a commitment to a future where Californians live in wellness-enhancing communities that actively seek to prevent people from developing the symptoms and negative life outcomes of severe mental illness. To achieve this goal, the State has sought to clearly distinguish PEI from treatment and recovery services. This presentation will cover the promise of PEI and the distinction between PEI (as defined by the State) and treatment, facilitate dialogue between education and mental health and help identify points of collaboration using funding from this component of the MHSA. 2:45 pm - 3:30 pm PANEL: ARTICULATION OF THE VISION FOR PREVENTION AND.
