Focus for the afternoon 1:45 PM - 3:00 PM Case studies of counties who are accelerating transformation in the new reality...san Rafael a. Adult System of Care transformation (Los Angeles) The presentation will focus on the process and approach used to transform Los Angeles County s adult mental health system of care, including an overview of the use of the Milestones of Recovery Scale (MORS) and CMHDA s Levels of Service Policy Guideline in assisting providers in identifying treatment strategies as well as in creating opportunities for flow throughout the continuum of services. b. Children and Transition Age Youth Systems of Care (Fresno) This presentation provides participants with an overview of the expansion of Fresno County s multi-agency SMART (Screening, Decision-Making, Assessment, Referral, and Treatment) Model of Care targeting historically unserved and underserved minority children from birth through 5 years of age, and their families. c. Racial and ethnic community engagement (Santa Barbara) The workshop will focus on the efforts conducted in Santa Barbara County via MHSA to engage Latino consumers and family members. The presenter will also focus the discussion on cultural realities that needed to be addressed and obstacles that needed to be overcome in order to successfully engage and retain Latino participants. d. Moving beyond the system to communities (Stanislaus) Participants will learn of an emerging approach to community capacity building in Stanislaus County.

The groupings (1) Counties meet either with their own team or in groups of their choosing. (2) Statewide advocates meet together in constituency groups. (3) Groups will be organized before and during lunch. b. The process: Groups will work with a simple assessment tool based on the transformation framework. The tool will help groups assess where they are making progress, where they want to focus their efforts going forward, and what support would help them make progress. 5:15 pm - 6:00 pm Closing session...san Rafael a.
