1 August 2017 Newsletter P.O. Box 414, Petrie 4502 Welcome to our third newsletter for the year. Well half the year has already gone and we have had many exciting events. With lots more to come as we head into September holidays. We have also been busy locking in times and dates with a number of shopping centres around Australia and New Zealand to host Sensory Santa in November and December this year. We would like to thank a few businesses and clubs who have donated money to Sensory Souls which has helped towards the cost of running events for our families. RealStreeters Club, True Street Club and the Spelter family. On behalf of our families we appreciate your support. Thank you. Take a look on page 4/5 for the next events in August and September. Mark the dates in your diary and keep an eye on our Facebook page for when we are taking bookings. And to you our Sensory Souls Community thank you for your continued support by attending these days. To all the families who may not live in our area where these events are held but may go to the Sensory Movie Day or Sensory Santa in your town, thank you for your support. Finally, it s the volunteers who help us bring these events to you all that we are so grateful for, so a special thank you goes to them all. Without our volunteers we could not run these events. 2 Train Day on the 28th June We had a wonderful sunny winters day at Pine Valley Railway. With just over 75 parents/carers and children who came along and enjoyed unlimited train rides and a sausage sizzle cooked by the wonderful Q.S.M.E.E club members and volunteers at Pine Valley. Here are a few photos from the day many more on our FB page. Sensory Souls Expo July 30th at Morayfield Cinema foyer. Special thanks to the businesses who came to our expo. They had their products and services on display for our families... Playful treasures, Medinsulert, Sunshine Coast Surfschool, Little Tots Treasures, Simply Caring, My support Broker Qld, QCamel, Sensory Super Heroes, DB Therapy, Lawnton Aquatic Centre, Teresa Bird, Sensory Tool Bags, Doterra and Beyond The maze Thank you and we appreciate your time. We also had special visit from our Minions. We followed the expo with our monthly movie thank you to all the families who came along. 2

3 Driven By What s Inside July 8th at the Caboolture Showgrounds. What an incredible day we had. Big thank you to everyone involved making it so special for families with special needs. The only sad faces we saw were the children, when told it was time to go home. Special Thank you to all our Volunteers that helped out, including the volunteers from Old Skool Street cars (Janet & Team) who helped out all day and our regular volunteers who help at our other Sensory souls events, to all the Stall holders and entertainment Dan & Jess (Costumes). Also a Massive thank you to all the Car clubs and individuals that donated their time to take special needs families in their amazing vehicles. Thank you so much, without you all it just wouldn't be possible. Here are a few photos lots more on our FB page. Sensory Souls would like to especially thank Rainbow Kids Entertainment (Tony & Haylee) for kindly donating the amazing big wooden Toys for our Raffle. The prizes were won by Kris - (Truck) & N Smith (Boat). For any families that are interested in purchasing the wooden toys head to Rainbow Kids Entertainment FB page and Layby for Christmas. Also P Gunnis won the Gate prize of $400 Car detail donated from AAA Mobile Detailing. Thank you for your support. 3

4 Sensory Movie Day Here are our next 4 Sensory screenings for the year... August 20 - Cars 3 September 17th - Captain Underpants October 15th - The Emoji Movie November 5th - The Lego Ninjago Movie Ticket prices are $8each (Except for Ipswich $6each) created for families with special needs, extended family welcome... Lighting on dim, sound lowered, free to move around, flap or stim. Sensory friendly environment, no judgement. Purchase tickets on the day. Sensory Screenings held at Birch Carroll and Coyle QLD - Morayfield, Maroochydore, Capalaba, Browns Plains, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Mackay, Rockhampton, Robina, NSW - Lismore, Tuggerah, Cronulla and in WA - Morley. Save the Date - Not taking bookings yet. We have been busy again organizing activities for September school holidays. We have locked in a few dates please mark them in your calendar. We are not taking any bookings for the September events yet. We will be in the next few weeks. Follow us on FB for details for how & when we will take the bookings. Please note these are all in the Moreton Bay region as that is where we live. Sorry for the disappointment if you don t live near by. September 24th Sunday - Surfing at Bribie. October 1st Sunday - Stand Up Paddle Boarding October 8th Sunday 9-10am - Red Jacket Aqua fun at Twin Waters resort. $10 per person. 4
