Gavin Joseph Robertson weighed in at 8 lbs. 5 oz. His mama is their daughter Shannon. They are excited because Gavin will be living close by with his big sister, Abby. 2 EEE REPORTS DECEMBER: Twenty four members attended a wonderful Christmas party at the Faith Alliance Church where the Missions Group served us Christmas dinner. After the wonderful meal we played the gift exchange game. We also discussed and concluded that we should make a donation to those who suffered from the recent fires in Gatlinburg. The next day I called Jim & Joyce Hunsley CD s at the nearest Chapter in Maryville Tennessee and asked them for a recommendation on how to best do this. They recommended the Gatlinburg & Sevier City Relief Fund and we made a donation of $250 to them. This was a great way to end the year HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017: First, we would like to say THANKS to all the members of Chapter K, especially all of those on the team, who directly worked to make the Rides, Events, Newsletters, Safety discussions, Fund raisers and Gatherings during 2016 a success. Reflecting on 2016 which began with a bump, I think we can say that we got over the bump. We had a set of wonderful events during the year and regular attendance at our gatherings. We have a new newsletter that looks and reads great. But along with the positives comes some negatives. We sorely need a Chapter Couple that will represent us, at least, in the District and the Region. Our ride participation had weak attendance and our membership, instead of growing, is declining. We need to keep doing the positives while working on correcting the negatives. So, what can Pat and I do along with you in 2017? We should remain positive and we need your recommendations and participation. It s that simple. Let s Go Team. COMING UP: 1. There is an Ops meeting on the 14 th of January. 2. A ride and events planning meeting in January a date to be determined. 3. The Chili Cook Off on March 18 th. This is a big one. 3 CHILI COOK-OFF Hi Everyone. Well, it s time to really get busy on getting things done for the chili cook off. I will have tickets to sell at our meeting. $9.00 will get you a great meal, a drink, and desserts, not to mention the great games and prizes, AND a chance to win $ if your ticket is drawn. I will be finalizing my work assignments and hope you will say yes if asked. We re still looking for prizes. Did any of you get a Christmas gift that you would like to re-gift? We sure could use it. Marcye is in charge of prizes, so just bring them to meeting and Marcye will take care of the rest. We need EVERYONE to participate to make this a success. Diana Brennan Chili Cook-Off Coordinator DANNY S EDUCATION CORNER You may have made a lot of new resolutions for the New Year. Some you may keep, some you forgot about, some may be just wishes passing through your head. But, we have a lot to be thankful for. I can name a page full of thanksgiving. We made it in to another year. There were not any serious mishaps. We ate good, had good rides to some places that were new and old. A good crew to lead the way. What about our leadership? People stepping up to do a good thing for the Chapter. How about our good health and good sense. Our motorcycles doing what they are supposed to do. We have all the makings of a prosperous person. We give thanks to God because He loved us so much that He gave His Son that we may have life. And we have it, everyday there is a blessing. We pray for God to bless others. We are sure to get a blessing without praying for it. For the overflow of their cups, fills our little bucket. The Bible says you were given what you couldn t keep, you will gain what you can never lose. Let s go over some issues from the past: Always come to a complete stop at stop lights/signs Always use both brakes to slow down Always check the tire pressure before a ride Never rely on mirrors when changing lanes Do not enter a turn too fast and don t ride faster than your guardian angel can fly Thank your co-rider for the extra set of eyes Always take a moment before the ride to smile and give thanks We have a good education team through GWRRA. Keep improving your skills, you may need them someday Build your Chapter with friends, fun, safety, knowledge We do care and hope your new year is successful Check out Richard Bowles article in the new Wing World with Stu. We all are sorry for what he had to go through during the best riding times. It was costly in more ways than one. Danny Hughes Chapter Educator EDITOR S CORNER Another year has flown past and here we are at the beginning of another New Year. I could swear that I just slept through New Year 2016! I hope everyone s holidays were happy and filled with the love of family & friends. This year is going to be a year of change for me. I will be moving from the home that Jim and I shared & made memories in and where I have lived for the last 21 years. I will be moving to my new home around the end of January. This is a huge step for me. It s time to turn the page and start the next chapter in my life. I will be sending a sheet around at the Gathering to update/correct our birthday and anniversary information. I ask that everyone complete it so our newsletter information is correct and so we don t leave anyone out.
