2 STAR s Mission The mission of STAR is to foster personal achievement by providing therapeutic experiences using horse related activities for persons with disabilities or other special challenges. STAR is a 501(c)(3) organization and holds premier accreditation from the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.)
3 Another 30 years... STAR Lenoir City Hwy 11E Lenoir City, TN Phone: Web: STAR South Knoxville 3312 Tipton Station Road Knoxville, TN Phone: By Appointment Only
4 Therapeutic Riding links children and adults that have physical, cognitive or neurological conditions with horses as a means of gaining therapeutic benefits through riding skills and equine interaction. The first half of each lesson focuses on grooming & tacking while the second half is riding. Minis in Motion involves miniature horses and donkeys igniting a spark for learning and personal development. Because of their size, our minis are perfect partners in Equine Assisted Learning activities for rehabilitation centers, veterans programs, at-risk youth, and special education classes. However they excel when paired with residents in Memory Care or Alzheimer s units of assisted living facilities.
5 Changing Strides teaches life skills to at risk youth, those struggling with PTSD, addiction or life stressors by developing partnerships with horses. This program provides tools to better manage stress and foster positive relationships while teaching problem solving, appropriate communication, anger management and self-confidence. Heroes & Horses provides equine assisted activities for veterans facing physical or emotional challenges. Classes may focus on ground only horsemanship or mounted skills. Helping the participants are fellow veterans who understand the military mindset thus providing fellowship and support.
