We will verify all data received against current records to ensure that we are up-todate. Remember to include your address. The Lights of Broadway Belated thanks to Kris Woodward, Jean Tower, Debbie Park-Boussu, Sue Lunow, Chris Lally (and hubby), Sue Coon and Chris Spencer for their help in decorating for the June Dinner Banquet...to everyone attending...and the great cooks and "undecorators". It was fabulous. AGAIN! Bruce Handford, AWS, NWS Watercolor Workshop October 3 and 4th is full. All money is due NOW. Total cost is $84 less your deposit. Mail to Kris Woodward, 44 Hoffman Drive, Latham payable to CAL and marked Handford. You can still be on the wait list.

2 Robert Carsten, PSAmp, IAPSmc Pastel Workshop Master Pastelist Robert Carsten, PSAmp, IAPSmc Pastel Workshop. October 31 thru November 2. Price is $60 a day if we have 20 people but slightly higher if we have only 15. This is a wonderful opportunity to study with a master at a huge discount from other venues. All levels accepted. $50 deposits are due (see check info under Handford). CAL Library/ Scholarship The CAL Library is open to check out DVDs and books (Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 AM--8PM, St. Matthews Church, 129 Old Loudon Rd. Contact Debbie or Kris to ensure that the church is open.) Donations of books and DVDs are welcome. Art supply items may be sold for the Scholarship Fund. Money from these sales as well as income from raffles go to two Colonie high school students. Contact Debbie for donation pick-up or note for taxes. Open CAL Position - Secretary Needed Our wonderful Eleanor Christie must resign from Secretary of CAL. She has a very busy year coming up! The position of Secretary is officially open and the Board is seeking someone to join us at our Board Meetings that meet one Tuesday out of most months. The Secretary takes the minutes and s them to Board members for approval. We have some new faces in our group and are looking for one more! For more information, contact a board member of your choice. Our listing is on page 4. Our deepest thanks and well-wishes to Eleanor, who has so diligently served the Art League for the past three years. Member Opportunities Members are encouraged to take advantage of the following opportunities that will be available in the CAL newsletter. Ads can be listed in the Sept, Nov, Feb, and May newsletters. Membership dues must be current. 1. Advertise classes, workshops, or art services. The size is limited to a maximum of 400 characters including spaces. This is approximately 8 lines. 2. Advertise art-related merchandise for sale, swap, free, or looking to buy. The size is limited to a maximum of 100 characters including spaces. This is approximately 2 lines. All ads are to be ed to Carolyn Martel at jmartel4@nycap.rr.com. Ads are due by the 5 th of the month prior to the newsletter date. A new must to be submitted for each newsletter publication. Member Milestones We welcome Member Milestones and Exhibitions for the newsletter. Kristin Woodward, CNYWS,PWS, was accepted into the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors. Her painting Forest Path received the Garnet Award. Tim Lederach was also accepted into this exhibit. The show runs from August 6 to October 9 at the View in Old Forge. She was also accepted into the Adirondack National Pastel Exhibition at the Shirt Factory Gallery in Glens Falls. CAL members are invited to the"chasing the Light" reception, 3-5:00 Saturday, Sep 17 at the Saunders Art Gallery in the Shirt Factory, 71 Lawrence St., Glens Falls, upstate NY. The art of Kristin Woodward and Debbie Park-Boussu will be showing from September 3rd to the 30th.!2

CAL Website Our website is not a commercial website and does not sell directly or indirectly to potential clients. It will only display your wares and contact information if someone wants to buy. There is a page for CAL members to display artwork which is labeled "Member Art for Sale". One option if using the CAL website is to make a page with your name on it and include a few examples of your artwork along with your contact information, phone number, or address. If you wish to participate, the details to jackpaints@nycap.rr.com. Get Well Get Well Wishes to Ginny Laumeister, Peg Ferguson, Beverly Bondley. Get-Well Contact Sunshine Chairman, Peggy Ferguson, requests that you send her names of those members that need a bit of sunshine in their lives. Cards and prayers are appreciated by members who are ill or dealing with a life crisis. Call Condolences Our sympathy to the family and friends of Millie Beaudette. She was 92, a founding member of CAL and a wonderful artist. Millie will be missed. A Note of Thanks at the End of an Era - On 7/20/16, CAL completed its last full-scale mailing of its newsletter. All members should be grateful to those who assembled and mailed each edition over the past years. Paramount among these most recently was Gloria Grimmell and Les, her late husband, Emily Ravida, Meggie Carson, and the volunteers and draftees from the St. Matthew s Wednesday Art Group. And to Lorenz Worden, who also helpd with the mailing every time, and for the last several years has produced all the CAL Updates, which came out six times/year. Thank you to Shirley Gordon, who has agreed to produce the Updates for us going forward, and to new member Anna Stoliker, for taking on CAL s treasurer position!!4

5 Double this Thank You: Jim and Lucy Comly have been serving on the CAL Board in different capacities for many years. They are stepping down, and we would like to extend our most sincere thanks. Always committed to making the best decisions for CAL, Lucy and Jim have provided ideas, insight and suggestions - at countless meetings over the years that have benefitted our organization. Their presence will be missed at Board Meetings, but we look forward to seeing them, and Jim s camera, at our General Meetings and functions. Thank you, Lucy and Jim! As a nonprofit organization, The Colonie Art League, Inc. will provide its members with the minutes and financial statements, formally adopted by the Board of Directors. June Dinner Uncommon Grounds is looking for artists to display their artwork at both Albany and/or Saratoga locations. They would like the exhibits to run from the first of the month to the last day of the month, and they are open to individual or joint shows. Gifts, Awards, & Bequests Gifts and Awards are always welcome from those who enjoy our exhibitions or are supportive of our efforts. New funds are needed to sustain our annual exhibitions, which have materially increased in cost during these past few years.
