Early in 2018, we moved the Phoenix Centre to 10 Downie St. Since this time, we have seen about a 50% increase in participation at the Centre, which is really exciting. I m sure those attending have noticed the increase in activity at the Centre. Thank you to Toni, Joe and all the volunteers at the Phoenix Centre for their hard work and fabulous achievement. I want to congratulate Toni again for receiving the Unsung Hero award at the Ontario Peer Development Initiative Conference in October. It was a wonderful recognition for a well deserving recipient. In April, Joe Gladding joined the Peer Support program in the role of Outreach Peer Support Worker. In addition to working at the Phoenix Centre, Joe has been providing peer support in the community, the Stratford Jail and will soon be providing service at the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance inpatient unit. Over the past year, with a grant from the Stratford Perth Community Foundation, we were able to engage Lisa Hawthornthwaite, a Patient Engagement Specialist. Lisa worked with Robin and the members of the Client Engagement Advisory Committee to develop the first Client Advisory Council for Choices for Change. The Council launched in October and under the leadership of the Co-Chairs, Brian King and Leslie Elkeer, we are excited about the important contribution they will make to our agency.
2 Choices for Change Board of Directors With funding via the Opiate Strategy, we hired another Nurse and Counsellor. These new positions will allow us to partner with the Stratford Family Health Team to provide a Suboxone Clinic for those patients on high doses of Opiates. We will be initiating a pilot with the Stratford Family Health Team and will be offering this service to other Family Health Teams in the area. We are pleased to be partnering with the City of Stratford and other community agencies to offer the Supportive Housing of Perth Program (SHOPP). This program will provide support to individuals precariously housed throughout Perth County. Choices for Change has an Addiction Counsellor and a Housing Stability Worker, involved with this team.
