1 Heritage Court Memory Care Community Heritage Newsletter 3515 E. Hamilton Ave., Eau Claire, WI heritagesenior.com October 2018 Dear residents and families, Letter from the Director Heritage is dedicated to providing quality services, and our staff, together with our quality department, work continuously to improve our practices and knowledge in order to provide excellent care and amenities. Our annual Resident Satisfaction Survey, which you will be Amanda Runnoe receiving this month, helps us in our mission, providing qualitative Executive Director responses that help us form action plans to help us improve. This survey measures your opinions on a variety of topics, including housekeeping, amenities, security, care, and more, and allows you to rank them from 1(very dissatisfied) to 5 (very satisfied). Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey and return it to us by mid-november. In the coming months, we ll review the surveys, then share the results with you along with our action plans for future improvements based on the data we ve collected. Thank you for taking the time to help us improve. Your feedback is appreciated! Sincerely, Amanda Runnoe Resident Recognition Kathy Fullarton Kathy was born and raised in Iowa, but has also lived abroad in Germany when her husband, Stu, was in the military. She has four adopted children whom she loves dearly: two from India and two from Korea Kathy worked as a financial aid counselor at UW-Stout for 25 years before obtaining her master s degree in divinity. She then worked as a minister for eight years before retirement. This month, we are celebrating Kathy as one of our October birthdays! Happy early birthday, Kathy! The Heritage Senior Living Mission: To provide the highest standards while protecting, cherishing, and dignifying the knowledge, value, and joy of our residents. February Romance in Wisconsin
2 w A Message from the Wellness Nurse Stay Healthy This Flu Season Flu season is officially upon us. Which means if you haven t gotten your flu shot yet, make sure to schedule it soon! You can also check with your community director to see when flu shots will be offered in your community. On top of getting your flu shot, here are other steps you can take to ensure you and your loved ones stay healthy: Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs often spread when a person touches a contaminated item, then touches their own face. Get plenty of sleep. This will help your boost your immune system, as will being physically active, drinking plenty of fluids and managing your stress. Wash your hands often. If soap and water aren t available, use an alcohol hand sanitizer. Avoid close contact with those who are ill. And remember: If you are experiencing flu symptoms (particularly difficulty Jaime Schwingel VP of Clinical and Medical Operations breathing, pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen, sudden dizziness or persistent vomiting) seek medical attention right away! A Message from Culinary Snacks to Satisfy your Fried Food Cravings Fall brings with it beautiful foliage and plentiful harvests. It also, unfortunately, brings the end of the grilling season. But don t despair! There are plenty of other fun ways to prepare your favorite foods ways that can even make your vegetables interesting! This fall, consider bringing a little crunchy goodness to your vegetables by frying them. Broccoli cauliflower and domestic or wild mushrooms are particularly good when lightly battered and fried in a healthy oil. Serve them with a fun dipping sauce like ranch, hot sauce, barbecue sauce or even low-sodium soy sauce to crank up the flavor profile. Lightly fried vegetables can Pam Berg Culinary Director make a great side dish or meal or a festive tailgating snack. And the best part is, they are simple and easy to make (and quite tasty)! Our Quality Promise to You Our quality promise starts with commitment. Heritage Senior Living is committed to listening to YOU. Got an idea? A suggestion? We want to hear it. Quality matters so we appreciate your ideas and input. Whether you are an employee, a resident, a family member or a visitor, let us know. us at: quality@heritageal.com
