1 July/ August I N S I D E T H I S I S S U E : July Featured Speaker Executive Board & Committee Reports Space Coast Women Business Expo District I Conference 5 Tabletop Tour with Champagne & Chocolate Event Calendar 7 Meeting Agenda 8 It s never too late to be who you might have been. ~ George Eliot M E S S AGE F ROM T H E PRESIDENT Susan Averill, President Food for thought Attitude by Charles Swindoll The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of Attitude on my life. Attitude to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is Our Attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our Attitudes. Getting Ready to WIN (Women s Instructional Network) Let s make July and August a time to learn more about WIN! Take the challenge by completing two online classes to enter into a drawing for a $15 gift certificate for lunch at a place of your choice. This exciting new online learning tool is offered exclusively to ABWA members. Realize your potential, by taking courses on your own time and at your own pace. Learn to Facilitate Team Meetings for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Learn Problem Solving Processes to identify and solve common problems using innovative solutions. These are just two of the many courses available! WIN will enhance your professional and personal skills, and turn your organization into a m o r e s u c c e s s f u l h i g h - performance team. Through WIN, you also will stay current with Chapter and National news, connect with a WIN professional mentor, and earn Professional Development Unit credits (PDUs). In addition to your annual membership dues, you pay a $15 annual technology fee to have access to WIN. As a special introduction to WIN, with a Basic Membership, you will receive 5 FREE Team Tools training modules. And, you can purchase additional Team Tools courses for only $24.95 each, where other companies pay over $100 per module. This is an exceptional value for all working women and business owners! ABWA is proud to offer this unique tool that will assist its members in developing a clear purpose for their teams and will help them stay connected with Chapter and National news. Barbara Cheney, Sue Parker, Sheryl Glore and Anita Carbone attended the 2010 District Conference at the Naples Beach Hotel on May 21. Anne Pasquini, District I Vice President, presented on the important aspects of SBMEF, and how Chapters and members should be creating opportunities and taking advantage of SBMEF s outright grants. Since its inception in 1953, SBMEF has awarded 15,500 scholarships in the amount of $15.8 million. For an Anne Pasquini ABWA member to be eligible for reimbursement of business skills tuition (i.e., real estate classes, desktop publishing or any nondegree seeking courses) a chapter must contribute a minimum of $500 to SBMEF.
