1 The Local Cancer Community Update of Submitted by: Tim E. Renzelmann July 22, 2014 Area Cancer Survivors Living With, Through & Beyond Cancer! Here are just a few examples of how some local cancer survivors are choosing to live with, through and beyond cancer! Dione Knop, breast cancer survivor (and former TLC Supportive Newsletter Survivor Spotlight ) shares her story at the Sheboygan County Relay for Life on Friday night, July 18! SCCCF Survive, Thrive & Be Fit Go Disc Golfing! An enthusiastic group of area cancer survivors gathered at the Vollrath Park disc golf course (the oldest disc golf course in the state) on Monday, July 21 st! Disc golf is one of the fastest growing sports according to Dennis Wield from The Shack at Vollrath Park. After some basic instructions and a few practice throws we were ready to hit the course! Special thanks to Dennis & Pattie Weild for sharing their hospitality and expertise! Survivors show their togetherness at the Sheboygan County Relay for Life. Award-winning A.S.S. (Active Survivors of Sheboygan) team members Kathy Burch, Janet Sampson, Karen Steiner and Cindy Becker show off their trophies following the Acuity Health Challenge on Saturday, July 19! After a few holes we took advantage of the food trucks that visit Vollrath Park every Monday night and enjoyed a nice evening! NOTE: Photos on this page provided by Bruce Becker and Janet Sampson!

2 Pink Heals Tour Visits Sheboygan & Sheboygan Falls! Thursday, July 24 th You are invited to attend any of a variety of Pink Heals tour stops in Sheboygan and Sheboygan Falls to learn more about this organization. On Thursday, July 24th the organizations pink fire trucks are scheduled to be at the Matthews Oncology Associates / Sheboygan Cancer & Blood Specialists parking lot (1621 N. Taylor Drive, Sheboygan) between 11AM and 11:45AM.! During this brief visit along their nationwide tour, you will have a chance to see and sign the pink fire truck(s) (all supporting community members are invited to sign the fire truck as a way to illustrate their commitment to helping others) and attend a casual "meet & greet" with Pink Heals representatives in the MOA/SCBS 2 nd Floor Conference Room to learn more about how this national organization with a local chapter hopes to better the local cancer community! It is my understanding that the fire truck(s) will also be visiting the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Home and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at different times throughout the day. If you are unable to see and sign the pink fire truck(s) throughout the day, you will have another opportunity when it makes its final stop of the day at River Park in Sheboygan Falls (scheduled from about 4P to 9P). Pink Heals Mission Statement: We drive pink fire trucks and pink police cars across America bringing the Cares Enough to Wear Pink and Pink Heals Movement to a city near you! We simply provide a program for your community leaders to adopt, helping them fund raise for people rather than causes. We focus our labor of love on the women of this country and wage war on anything that may harm her or her family! On Monday, August 4 th, area cancer survivors are invited to join us at Sunset Hills Golf Course in Sheboygan Falls (home of the upcoming Putting for Pink Golf Outing to benefit SCCCF) as we take to the driving range to do our best to Drive to Survive and spend some time on the practice green! No experience required. There will be experienced golfers present to offer some basic instruction and advice. RSVP is always appreciated!!! FUNDS for the FUND! In Sheboygan County no one needs to! All area cancer patients/survivors (from newly diagnosed to long-term survivors) along with their co-survivors (family & friends) are encouraged to join the Local Cancer Community list to receive news about events and activities to inform, educate, inspire, support, heal, help and have fun! The Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund Financial Gestures (financial assistance) designed to help those in need with the financial challenges of a cancer diagnosis. Survive, Thrive & Be Fit Healthy Living Opportunities: Gentle Yoga for Cancer Survivors, Massage & Reiki for Cancer Patients, Active Survivors of Sheboygan Team Activities, Steps to Survivorship Walking Events, Survivorship Through the Lens Digital Photography Workshop & more!
