2 Children at Dahlia Court Apartments in Carpinteria enjoy 'the fruits of their labor'. This new garden plot was one of six installed by Dahlia residents and volunteers of All- Saints-by- the- Sea Episcopal Church of Montecito. Shown are students attending Peoples' Self- Help Housing's after- school education program; Marisa Ramirez, Karen Marcos, Andonit Martinez, and Alejandro Cisneros, with educator Brittany Hadidian. The young people plant, tend, and harvest vegetables, such as cabbage, artichokes, chard, corn, and tomatoes. They learn recipes and how to cook the vegetables. The bountiful harvest of fresh produce is also shared with their parents and other residents. PSHH Turns 40: Save the Date, Oct. 17!

3 Mark your calendars for a fun filled afternoon "Central Coast Taste of Hope" at the Edwards Barn in Nipomo. Peoples' is celebrating it's 40th anniversary on Sunday, October 17 with an afternoon of great wine, food, live and silent auctions, live entertainment, and awards program! Thank you! Ladera Parking Lot gets Makeover

4 A worker from Lash Construction is shown adding final touches to the new parking lot at Ladera Apartments in Santa Barbara. The much- needed project was funded by Peoples' and Community Development Block Grant funding from the City of Santa Barbara. Phil Suding was the landscape architect and Jim Hurst PSHH construction superintendant. The 54- unit affordable housing complex was acquired and rehabilitated by Peoples' in 1999 and is home to over 150 low income residents. Firefighters Visit Paso Robles Youth Center

5 Members of the Paso Robles Fire Department paid a visit to eager and enthusiastic students at Peoples' Canyon Creek Learning Center. Sixty children from five Paso Robles Elementary Schools attend this free after school education program. The firemen spoke about the importance of fire safety and disaster preparedness. The highlight of the visit was a tour of the well- equipped fire truck and hearing the siren (of course!). Every child received a bright red fire helmet. PSHH is the lead agency for the Paso Robles Community Learning Centers Program, which is supported by the After School Programs Office of the Calif. Dept. of Education, United Way of SLO County, and other funders. Don't Forget Peoples' in Your Will Peoples' now has a website dedicated to Planned Giving information. PSHH Planned Giving Website Staff News Employee 5- Year Anniversary Kenneth Trigueiro Director of Rental Housing Development "Although I was involved heavily in finance and real estate development prior to joining PSHH, my five years here has been like earning another university degree! I now enjoy the specialized, and challenging non- profit development approach to successfully delivering high quality affordable rental housing to our local communities, using the proven PSHH model. By providing very good permanently- affordable housing for lower paid but critical workforce and their families, as well as those with special needs, it's been gratifying to see local neighborhoods stabilized as a result." Ken's duties include land and property acquisition, project approval, design and financing, construction superivsion, and advocacy of affordable housing. Ken holds a bachelor's degree in agricultural business management from Cal Poly, SLO. He also earned an M.B.A. in finance and banking at Golden Gate University. Trigueiro worked in the banking and financial markets for 12 years and also served as CFO at Cilker Orchards.

6 Ken enjoys spending time with wife and four sons in Atascadero and volunteering for local and international church projects.
