2 THE OPPORTUNITY On New Year s Day, the Donate Life community participates in America s New Year Celebration, seen by over 33 million television viewers nationwide and over 30 million viewers internationally with news coverage inspired by the deeply meaningful purpose of our parade participants: Share the real stories of organ, eye and tissue donors and recipients on a world stage Sponsorship of float participants including 16 float riders, 44 floragraph honorees, and 8 walkers Promotion of organizations nationwide and their participant stories More than 40 floragraph finishing events held across the nation rally communities to remember and honor donors, and their living legacies 1,500 volunteer float decorators bring the float to life while honoring those who gave and received the gift of life. Our family received the most incredible gift when our Aidan was chosen to represent LifeShare in the 2018 Donate Life Rose Parade Float. Throughout the weekend, we were surrounded by the love and support of fellow donor families, transplant recipients, and the Donate Life staff; but the greatest gift to our family was openly talking about Aidan s life as well as his gift of tissue donation for the entirety of our weekend. Our connection to fellow families, staff, and volunteers was instant and we look forward to a continued relationship with everyone associated with the event. To us, they are now our extended family.
