3 Peer Spport is an asset to yor agency Person-Centered Approach The relationship is the fondation. Begin with welcoming otreach and engagement Services are based on the person s experience and the help they reqest Services work toward qality-of-life goals Treatment and rehabilitation are goal driven Personal recovery is central from beginning to end Track personal progress toward recovery Use methods that promote personal growth and self-responsibility Peer spport is volntary; people engage or disengage as they choose. At least 1 year in recovery before training. (some employers reqire more) Experience may have been personal or as a parent/caregiver of a child in services. Lived experiences determine area of work. Actively promotes Principles of Recovery & Resiliency Work to redce stigma in commnity and systems
5 Recovery Is Possible Emerges from Hope Person-Driven Occrs via Many pathways Is Holistic Spported by Peers and Allies Spported throgh Relationships & Social Networks Cltrally Based & Inflenced Spported by Addressing Trama Involves Individal, Family & Commnity Strengths and Responsibility Based on Respect HOPE: An emotional belief in a positive otcome related to events and circmstances within one s personal life. Hope implies a bit of perseverance i.e. believing that a positive otcome is possible even when there is evidence to the contrary.

9 Fondational Commnity Spports (FCS) What it is Targeted Medicaid benefits that help eligible clients with complex health needs obtain and maintain hosing and employment stability. Spportive Hosing services Spported Employment services What it isn t Ongoing payments for hosing, rent, or room & board costs Wages or wage enhancements for clients Entitlement

12 Why Hosing and Recovery Throgh Peer Services (HARPS)? Research Shows Within one year of discharge from a psychiatric hospital nearly 30% of individals become homeless. Within one year of discharge from an inpatient SUD Treatment facility nearly 50% of individals become homeless. Homelessness exacerbates mental health symptoms and sbstance se.
13 What is Hosing and Recovery throgh Peer Services (HARPS)? HARPS bilds from the sccess of the PORCH spportive hosing pilot project HARPS is fnded with state dollars & Mental Health Block Grant fnds, allocated by the Legislatre.

Written and Oral test Once Employed at BHA: 1. DSHS Backgrond check 2. Application to DOH for Agency Affiliated Conselor Registration * Not reqired at commnity organization The DBHR certification program trains Peers per year.
