5 Why do we need an evidence-based specialty certification program? SWs are essential to the practice of hospice and palliative care. We bring specialized skills and knowledge to that practice and shold be recognized as advanced practitioners. Certification reqires verification of knowledge and competency based on passing of an evidence-based exam specifically and scientifically constrcted to reflect the essential knowledge and skills reqired for specialty practice. Or colleages in nrsing and medicine have had specialty certification programs for over 20 years.

6 Difference from the NASW Credential APHSW-C is evidence-based, reqires entry exam based on the known skills and tasks for the job APHSW-C meets the standards for certification organizations No relationship between the two one doesn t honor the other ACHP-SW is based on a portfolio; spervisor and three colleages evalate candidate on competencies Reqirements for each differ Renewal for APHSW-C is every for years; for ACHP-SW it s every two years
