1 UP COMING EVENT Martin Luther King Day Monday Jan. 18, 2016 Dance on Friday January 22, 2016 from 6 pm to 9 pm Super Bowl Supper Sat. Feb. 6, pm to 7 pm Valentine Dance Friday February 12, to 9 pm MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY AmeriCorps of the Sauk Valley College will be providing a FREE lunch for anyone on Monday January 18, 2016 at 235 W. Main in Amboy (Teen Turf). Jessica Sherewood and Alexis Zimmerlein our AmeriCorps workers and their helpers will also be having a fun day. The day begins at 9 am and will end at 12 noon. There will be fun and games including a bouncy house. You may come for the whole time or just just to pick up your lunch. A sack lunch will be provided at 11:30. Helpers are needed so please call to help out. High Fives to Mike & Mary Anderson for the use of their house. DANCE The next dance will be Friday January 22, 2016 from 6 pm until 9 pm. This will be at Teen Turf 235 West Main Street Amboy. You must be in 5 th grade and older to attend. The cost is $4.00. Concessions will be available for purchase. You may get to the dance after 6 pm but you may not leave unless your parent comes and signs you out. This is to help keep your youth safe. Chaperones are needed so please call or to help out.

2 High Fives to chaperones Janine Huffman and Cruz & Heather Martinez that helped run the Limbo. Pam Love and Shelly Bump manned the kitchen to keep everyone from going hungry. Jessica Sherewood kept the music running. Billie & Shelly Child and Alexis Zimmelein helped with games and keeping the evening running smooth. Eden Lindenmeyer won the Free Dance Pass as the Hula Hoop winner. The winner of the other Free Dance Pass was Darla Appleman as the Limbo winner. CHILI / SOUP SUPPER Our annual Souper Bowl Supper will be on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 4 pm until 7 pm. We will have chili, chicken noodle soup, cheesy broccoli soup, taco soup, Italian sausage tortellini soup, vegetable beef soup and corn chowder. There will also be homemade corn bread, pies, cakes and cookies for desserts. Coffee, lemonade, and water are in the cost of the meal. Carry outs are available. If you have a large carry out order please call and everything will be ready for you. The cost is very family friendly. Children under 5 are free, ages 5 to 12 are $3.00 and over 12 is only $5.00. This fundraiser helps cover the cost of our FREE After School Program. HIGH-FIVES High Fives to Ray & Mary Harrison, Les & Betty Shaw, Mary Dickinson, Nancy Hochstatter, Tom &

3 Cheryl Nauman, Helen Glessner, Tim & Maureen Oester, and a couple of anonymous donors for the monetary donations. To Shirley Reece, Pete & Connie Kemp, Frank & Karen Stenzel, Dave & Nichole Stenzel, Mary Kathryn Stenzel, and anonymous donors for the donation of supplies. To Donna Wellman and Margaret & Jerry Shaw, and Irene & Eileen Ramsdell for all the delicious food. Teen Turf is able to do so much for so many because of all these wonderful donations. HOMEWORK CLUB Our program can be started anytime during the school year. The 3 rd and 4 th grade students ride bus F and H so a note must be sent to the school. The teachers need to know so please make sure you write it in their assignment notebook. High school students may also ride on Dave or Pete s bus to come and help. This program is on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from after school until 5pm. On Early Out days the kids come right at 11:30 and stay until 5 pm. The hungry kids will be served a lunch and have some free time before starting their home work. Students do not need to come every day. Whatever works for your family is just fine with us. Please be sure to have a current permission form on file. Check that all phone numbers are current. The next early out will be this Thursday January 14, 2016.

4 Just a note: if school is let out early for bad weather then Teen Turf will not be held. Many of our workers are from out of town and need to be home not on the dangerous roads. Any questions feel free to call TAX FREE DONATIONS There is an account set up at First Federal Savings and Loan, First National Bank, and Farmers State Bank of Sublette if you would like to donate to our building program. We are in need of some changes to expand our computer area and to put in a smaller more heat efficient window. All donations are tax deductible as we are a 501c3. Teen Turf has been in existence for 20 years. Since we do not receive any state or federal money we survive on the generosity of the community. United Way has been a huge supporter for 15 years. If you are able to help us out please send your donations to Teen Turf P. O. Box 321 Amboy, Illinois AEROBICS Chair aerobics will be held every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 10 AM. All abilities are welcome!! Aubrey Burke has high intensity aerobics on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:15 pm until 6:15 pm. Our philosophy is pay or pray. So if you cannot afford a donation then say some extra prayers for

5 Teen Turf. The donated money helps with the high utility bills. RECYCLED CANS Yes we are still recycling cans. Just put your bags behind the fence on the red trailer. The white wire rack is for plastic and paper recycle items. Be sure that all the materials are tied and secured in bags or boxes. High Fives to everyone that donates cans. It helps our environment and our van upkeep. WISH LIST We need gently used things for our prize table. We also need kind and loving people to help with our After School Program. All you need is a kind and gentle heart to help our kids. It can be one day a week or more just call and we can figure out what works best for you. BOARD MEMBER Our newest member of the Teen Turf Board is Janine Huffman. Our other board members are Deb Albee, Fran Kessel, Pete Rood, Rich Geiger, Kim Watley, Mark Hicks, Brian McWethy, and Cindy Phillips. We are still looking for others to join the Teen Turf Board of Directors. Interested persons should want to be part of a group that takes time out of their busy lives to help the youth in our community.
