We once again thank the members of Rotary Club of Clayton and all fellow Rotarians and family for this philanthropic effort and seek more support because there is a lot to do. Note:- Visit our new facebook page at:- Joke of the Week Dan was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business. When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed a wife with whom he could share his fortune. One evening at an investment meeting he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away. I may look like just an ordinary man, he said to her, but in just a few years my father will die and I ll inherit $20 million. Impressed, the woman obtained his business card and three days later she became his stepmother. Women are so much better at estate planning than men. 5 th October 2015 Page 6 of 10 Volume 50, Number 14

7 Rotary International News Under One Sky lights the way to a better world By Arnold R. Grahl Rotary News 29-Sep-2015 A high school student announces that ending poverty is the first United Nations Sustainable Development Goal. A different student then announced each of the 16 other goals. Photo Credit: Rotary International/Alyce Henson. Rotary and ONE, an international advocacy organization, joined other event partners in downtown Chicago on 24 September to demonstrate a commitment to ending extreme poverty and inequality and to promoting action on climate change on the eve of the United Nations launch of its Sustainable Development Goals. The 17 ambitious goals constitute a road map for finding solutions to the world s most pressing problems, and dovetail with Rotary members work to create positive change in their communities and around the world. As dusk fell over Chicago, participants in the Under One Sky event held up blue lights, transforming the plaza where they were gathered into a field of fireflies to #LightTheWay to a more just world. This is a great opportunity for people to network and join an event where we are all focused on creating a better world, said Cheryl McIntyre, president of the Rotary Club of Chicago. Julie Bordo, a district representative for ONE.org, noted that Rotary and ONE are more effective when they work together. We have very similar goals, and when we put our collective efforts together, it allows us to reach more people in addressing these incredibly important issues, she said. Under One Sky Chicago was one of more than 40 such events planned in the United States and more than 150 around the world. Other cities that hosted them include Sydney, New Delhi, Johannesburg, São Paulo, and New York. 5 th October 2015 Page 7 of 10 Volume 50, Number 14
