1 I want to begin this report to say I have never been more proud of the services provided and the work completed by all levels of the CMHAFF. I want to extend my gratitude to each and every staff at the front line level who consistently and competently work with and enhance the lives of so many. You are the face of CMHAFF for the many people with mental illness we are privileged to assist. You provide needed services with compassion, consistency and with competence. Thanks are also extended to our extremely capable administrative staff. They are the silent few who keep the organization running smoothly and tend to the many details of an organization unseen by most but absolutely essential to any good operation. EMPOWERMENT AND SELF DETERMINATION DIVERSITY & SOCIAL JUSTICE ACCOUNTABILITY Vision Mental health and wellness in all communities. ANNUAL REPORT To our Management Team, you have been my right and left hands, working in tandem to achieve our strategic direction and as part of a extraordinary Leadership team. To the Leadership Team, your work has been exemplary and your accomplishments many. These two groups along with the Accreditation Committees have demonstrated quality, strength, resiliency, service and administrative excellence. I am thankful to be able to work with each and every one of you. To the Board of Directors, I have been fortunate in the skills you bring, the time you selflessly give and the perspectives you share. My sincere thanks for your wisdom and dedication, but most importantly for ensuring the community in our care and that the client always remains our central focus. Thank you! INNOVATION COLLABORATION Mission To be a leader in the provision of advocacy, education, research and client-centered recovery-based services in the Kenora and Rainy River Districts INTEGRITY & TRANSPARENCY
2 Message from CMHAFF Board President TRUDY MCCORMICK CMHAFF has been extremely active over this past year, in terms of service delivery and furthering the work of our Strategic Priorities, and in preparation for our Primer Survey with Accreditation Canada next month. We are delighted at the progress made on all fronts but particularly with the efforts made at enhancing our communication over our seven major program areas and in the five communities we serve. Effective communication has been and is a constant challenge given the diversity of our services and our geographic realities. The inception of All Staff webinars, committee memberships crossing program, geographic, front line, supervisory and management boundaries have been important. Other means of communication have included increased OTN use, expanded intranet information sharing as well as increasing the volume of print communiques. Last year, the Kenora Peer Support Program moved into the Lake of the Woods Hospital, St Joseph s Care building and after careful consideration including staff and client feedback, we have decided to make it our home for the next five years. As we speak, the remaining program staff in Kenora at the Lakeview site are moving into the same location. All program staff in each of the five communities will be located at one site. That alone will further reduce communication challenges significantly. The above reflects some of the efforts toward improving communication internal to the Organization. Externally, we continue to collaborate and partner, engaging in multiple opportunities that will result in improved access, improved quality and or produce greater efficiencies.
3 Ride Don t Hide is a major national cycling event sponsored by CMHA organizations all across Canada, including the Fort Frances Branch. This year was a joint venture held with CMHA Kenora Branch which involved over 60 riders who raised over $12,000. The net proceeds from this years ride were divided between the Wellness Group, CMHA Kenora and CMHA Fort Frances. Raising awareness is the key to ending the stigma of mental illness. The Ride was a fun and healthy way to engage the community in the discussion around mental illness. This years top fundraiser raised over $2,000. The top three fundraiser were recognized with awards following the event at Garrow Park in Kenora, Ontario.
