2 Dear Community, The Cameron County Children s Advocacy Center (CCCAC) is hosting our 1 st Annual Heart FORE Kids Golf Classic benefit on Saturday, February 10, Registration will begin at 8:00 AM and Shotgun start at 8:30 AM. The event will be held at Riverbend Resort & Golf Club in Brownsville, Texas. CCCAC at Monica s and Maggie s House is the one non-profit to serve as the first stop for children entering the justice system because of suspected sexual abuse, physical abuse, and those who have witnesses a violent crime. Our services are essential to these children in need will mark our 20 year anniversary of serving the communities from Cameron County through Willacy County. The CCCAC expresses our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners and community for your continued support and efforts. Our program would not exist without your support. 100% of the proceeds will go to Maggie s and Monica s House, allowing them to continue offering therapy, counseling, and positive programs to the abused and neglected children of Cameron County and Willacy County. 3 Cameron County Children s Advocacy Centers, Inc. We first opened our doors in Brownsville with Monica s House in October of Monica s House is named after a little girl named Monica Castillo who died at the age of 4 due to severe physical and sexual abuse at the hands of her caregiver. Maggie s House opened its doors in October of 2001, after seeing the need to expand our services to the children of northern Cameron County. Maggie s House is named after Maggie Dittman, a little girl from Harlingen who died from abusive head trauma at the hands of her babysitter. Monica s House and Maggie s House specialize in conducting videotaped forensic interviews of children between the ages of 2 to 17 who have been physically or sexually abused, or have witnessed violent crime. These non-leading, non-suggestive interviews are conducted in a child friendly environment. The Center s mission is to serve and advocate for child victims of abuse through prevention, intervention, and treatment. The CCCAC offers free therapy services for these children and their non-offending family members. Our community educator speaks at community events and educates children in our school to speak out if they are victims or witnesses of abuse. We also have Maggie s and Monica s Closet to assist our clients when children have needs such as clothing items, school supplies, and food items. In 2016, a total of 1027 children received services at the Cameron County Children s Advocacy Centers. Please be the One With Courage so together we will bring awareness to the issue of child abuse.
