Our next luncheon will be Friday, April 29th at 12:30pm at DeeZ Bar & Grill in Qualicum Beach. Details will be sent by to those in the Ladies' Luncheon list. EUCHRE Ingrid & George Sly Playing Euchre twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesday night at 7:00 pm, with a variety of people, will help develop your ability to play this card game with interesting and humorous partners. Cost: $3.00 per person per night. 3 Like us on Facebook: PUB FARE NIGHT Ian Lamoureux Enjoy a wide selection of local pub fare at various pubs on the third Saturday of each month at 5:30 PM. Spring is upon us and we will spring ourselves out to Deez Bar & Grill on April 16th, located at the northern end of QB on the Island Highway, commencing as usual at 5:30 pm. And remember that Deez aims to Pleez! As do we!! Kindly remember that your membership has to be current. A camping schedule is sent out early in the year showing the places and dates of each camping trip. It also shows which parks have cabins and the charges, including any discounts. LET S DO DINNER Anne Pelton lapelton@shaw.ca Margaret Rothe kemarothe@gmail.com An evening around the dinner table enjoying a delicious home-cooked meal is a great way to meet and really get to know people in our Newcomers

5 Club. So come join us and Let s Do Dinner on the 4 th Tuesday of each month. The concept is simple the host provides the main course and tea/coffee, guests supply appetizers, salad or dessert, and everyone brings their preferred beverage for the evening. You just sign up each month when you want to participate, and indicate if you are able to host that month. Sign up will be at the Newcomers Club meeting (first Thursday of the month) or by to the coordinator by the Saturday following that meeting. Participants for the month will be divided into groups of 6-8, and a list of hosts and their guests will be sent out by to the hosts, who will contact each of their guests to decide who will bring what course, and also to provide details about time and address. SPECIAL EVENTS: A variety of opportunities are available throughout the year to participate in many interesting local events. More specific information is always available at the General Meeting each month. The Special Events team have added a Facebook page with current and upcoming events. Doors open at 5:30pm, games to start at 6:30pm. The Legion Ladies Auxiliary Canteen will be open, so you can order dinner. They offer hamburgers, beef dip, chicken strips or a shrimp basket with a selection of desserts. The bar is open to buy a drink if you want. We will have a P a g e 5 selection of games: cribbage, Mexican Train, Trivial Pursuit, and Pictionary, or bring your own to play. You're also welcome to just sit and visit. This is a social night, to get to know other members of the club in a fun atmosphere. There is no charge for this evening, it s pay as you go for food and drink. Please sign up at the Special Events Table, even though there is no cost we have to know general numbers for the setup. Monday, April 18 th Mini-Golf Tournament and Appies The Mini-Golf Tournament was such a hit last time, we had requests to have it again. This time the tournament will be held at Paradise Mini-golf, in downtown Parksville. We head off to the Rod and Gun Bar & Grill for Happy Appy's afterward, for socializing and prizes. The tournament starts at 3:00 p.m. at a cost of $6 each. We have a limit of 48 players for this event. The Mini Golf is sold out, but we are taking a waitlist in case of cancellations. Monday, May 2 nd Courtenay-Comox Valley Bus Tour May is a busy month for Special Events. As promised, we have added a second bus tour on Monday, May 2 nd This one is a trip to learn about the Courtenay and Comox area. We will leave Wembley Mall at 9:00 a.m, returning around 4:00 p.m.. David Maas will be onboard, providing us with his narration about the area. If you were on the waitlist for the first bus tour, your name will be automatically added to this tour. Please let us know if you want to go or cancel. The cost for this tour is $25.00 each. This Bus Tour has one seat left, but please put your name on the waitlist in case of cancellations. Tuesday, May 17 th Scavenger Hunt Want to team up with strangers and learn about our area? We are holding a Scavenger Hunt for our next Special Event. Teams of 4 will be scouring

6 our area, looking for items on their list, finding answers to cryptic questions and taking strange photos. After the hunt, we will meet at the Bayside Inn for dinner, a beverage and prizes. We have a group menu once again; a homemade beef burger, chicken burger or veggie burger with a beer or glass of wine. When you register, you will be asked to pick one of the burgers so we have a count to give the restaurant. All this for only $18.00 per person. Sunday, June 12 th Annual Picnic Our Annual Picnic will be held at the Rotary Park in Qualicum again this year. The gates open at 4:00 pm. This is a potluck picnic. Please bring a salad or dessert or other casserole to share. Two large gas barbeques are available to cook the choice of meat you bring for your dinner. Beer, wine and pop will be supplied at the picnic for a small donation. Our special liquor licence does not allow guests to bring their own alcohol. Plates, knives, forks and spoons are provided, but please bring your own plate and utensils to keep down the garbage. This facility is right on the beach in Qualicum. MEMBERSHIP FEES: Membership fees are $15.00 per person for the year term of September through to August. Fees for new PNC Members are prorated over 10 months (1.50/mo) and adjusted according to the month joined. Membership renewals must be received by the November Monthly Meeting or membership will lapse. Fees can be paid at the Membership table the evening of the PNC monthly meeting between 6:30 and 7:30. Membership closes during the meeting. New member sign ups and renewals will be taken after the meeting ends. Custom name tags are $7.00 per person and are ready for pick up the next meeting. RELEASE OF LIABILITY: In keeping with our bylaws, the executive of the Parksville Newcomers Club needs each member to sign a Release of Liability form in advance of participating in any activities or events organized by the Club. This Form also provides the Club with authorization to share contact information with other members of the Club for the purpose of Club activities and confirms your authorization to receive communications from the Club. This form covers the term of active membership in the Club. The form is available at the monthly meeting and on the website. ACTIVITIES: After paying your annual dues, members can sign up for their choice of activities at the monthly Newcomer meetings or advise the coordinators. Most activity coordinators will then send out an about the specifics as required. Participate as your schedule permits. EVENTS and SPECIAL EVENTS: Event costs are not included in the annual dues. Event related costs will be identified in advance by the Events Coordinators. P a g e 7
