We live in rapidly changing times. Life moves at a fast (and sometimes furious) pace; possibilities and opportunities, and directions to walk are limitless. So why give time to BSNL? For me and my family, BSNL is important and relevant as it gives us the opportunity to preserve our Hindu culture and identity (with various religious events celebrating MahaShivratri, Holi, Hanuman Chalisa, Navratri, etc.), hold on to our heritage and history (CC), belong to a community, make friends and have fun (ice skating, day trips, Diwali party, etc.). If you haven t been attending, I urge you to re-join. If we are not organising the kind of activities that interest you, I encourage you to step forward and let us know what you want (at the very least) or better still become an event convenor yourself! I am looking forward to the year ahead and hope to see you at our events. Trupti Joshi, Secretary, BSNL. What s happening at BSNL? We had in our previous newsletter, asked you for ideas on an alternative name for this group...and here it is CLUB AGELESS! As the name suggests, this will be an all-inclusive place where the only entry requirement is that you want to have a good time with friends & family (and you are a member obviously!)!!! To start things off, we are organising a Karaoke event at the end of June (so keep the last couple of days of June FREE as soon as everything is finalised, we will let you know exact details), then we are thinking of regular pub quiz evenings, a summer picnic, afternoon tea (somewhere really nice!), dinner (maybe at the Shard), quad-biking, zip-wiring, the Crystal Maze experience, bowling, a 70/80 themed dinner & dance,. so many ideas and so much to come!!! Let s all come together, have loads of fun, meet new and interesting people, and make memories - that's what this group is all about! Remember, together we are stronger, so please support us, and if you have any new ideas/suggestions or want to help with event organisation/management, just get in touch - Pramath Pandya on or Bilesh Joshi on That s it for now, but watch this space (and the website/whatsapp group/facebook) for more Newsletter 2 - Apr
7 BSNL Elders Group (egroup), BSNL egroup Our BSNL Elders Group continues to enjoy a fun filled day every Tuesday with bhajans, bhojan and manoranjan. A great day out for our elders. We have enjoyed full membership, capped at 125 which is the capacity limit of our hall, for the last 3 years with near house full attendance each week and have had to operate a Waiting List. However, if there are any long term BSNL members over the age of 65 who wish to join our egroup they should contact me as we will give them priority over newer BSNL members. Our egroup membership is free of charge for BSNL members over the age of 65. Our mission is to give our elders a good day out full of entertainment, education, health awareness and social welfare and a delicious full course vegetarian lunch. Our activities include singing, celebrating Hindu festivals, and other themed days such as Valentines, Father s Day, etc., organising holidays abroad as well as local picnics and trips to temples. We also organise special events for our members to participate in a variety of performances, and when possible we invite outside artists and speakers also. For our elders health we have our eyoga class every Thursday morning, and for our members wishing to improve their singing we have esangeet class. And there are WhatsApp groups for our members to keep connected every day. Never a dull moment at egroup!! I am grateful to our egroup Sub-Committee for their dedication and leadership over the years that has enabled our egroup to be the success it is: Mr Shashikantbhai Mehta (Manoranjan), Dr Sharadbhai Mehta (Catering), Dr Mukundbhai Mehta (Special Events), Mrs Nimuben Rawal (eyoga), Mrs Hema Mehta (Membership), Mr jagdishbhai Mehta (in Charge of Hall Set-up) Mrs Prafulaben Purohit (Health & Safety) Mrs Bhartiben Vyas (Feel Good Champion).
