There is so many positive things going on with PPBA and our community, that I feel like I barley have time to breath. I am not complaining though. Sure, there is some things we need to work on but all in due time. I am grateful for the progress and excited for the future. It is not possible for everyone to go to every event and meeting but I urge you to get involved. Come to a meeting and get to know your fellow members and neighbors. A great way to network with others. This month we have our 43rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt for the children of our community. Almost 2,000 people attend. Children look forward to it every year and remember it as a fond childhood memory. We are seeing at least 3rd generations of families, if not fourth. PPBA is about promoting Business Members but this is a great way to give back to the community. Please read the flyer below and get involved and donate if you can. We now can accept Online Payments. This will be used for special events, fundraisers, donations and membership fees. Each committee chairman that uses the program will be responsible for keeping track of the payments and making a report to the treasurer. This month we are investigating joining a group that will allow us to offer group health insurance to our members. Come to the meeting and find more about it. The movement to Keep the Lucas County Jail Downtown is growing. This is something we will be discussing at the March Meeting...I hope to see you there. If I don't get a chance to see you beforehand. The PPBA Board approved a recommendation that allows the Point Place Business Association to sponsor medical insurance for its members. The program is offered through the Northwest Ohio Benefit Alliance. Under this program, businesses including self-employed individuals will be able to purchase group medical insurance. This program will be discussed by our speaker from the Alliance, Thomas Sieler. The program allows individuals to band together as a group. With group buying power, medical insurance should be at a more affordable rate. All businesses or self-employed individuals that purchase medical insurance are encouraged to attend. The details of the program will be presented by Mr. Sieler. Other organizations participating include: The Better Business Bureau, The Toledo Bar Association, The Sylvania Chamber of Commerce and The Perrysburg Chamber of Commerce.

Longer days means more activity at Cullen Park and Walleye season coming up. Enjoy! Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz was our guest at the February meeting. Steve Day and Parks Director, Rick Akeman also attended. The Mayor had mentioned during his campaign and subsequently about his idea to turn Grassy Island into a park, possibly accessible by a foot bridge. This got the attention of the duck hunters who hunt that area and a large contingency came to state their opposition. There was a lot of back and forth dialogue. The Mayor said it was only in the idea stage at this point, would need funding and more exploration whether it was a possibility before going forward. After the Mayor left, the Visions meeting was called to order. The Biggest Birding Week was discussed and will require more meetings to decide advertising options, programs, trying to reach a larger readership and extending activity beyond that one week. 6 PPBA NEWSLETTER MARCH It s time for PPBA's 43 rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt. The Egg Hunt will be at 10 am on March 31, It will take place at Friendship Park. It is for children from Birth to 10 years of age. Over 2000 eggs will be filled with candy and spread out in circles for 5 age groups, throughout the park. In addition, each child, if they get an egg or not, will line up and take home a prize. Grand Prize Eggs will be hidden in the 5 circles for a few lucky children to win larger prizes. Grand Prizes such as a wagon from Scott State Farm, bonds or gift Certificates from Attorney James Nowak or a filled Easter Basket from Merchant s Landing Mini Storage, have been donated in the past. Gift Cards to a local store for a small shopping spree or restaurants for free pizza, hot dogs or ice cream, are also great prizes. PPBA strives to promote our great businesses in the Point & Shoreland Community. It is our goal to have a clean, safe and beautiful business community. The Easter Egg Hunt is just one way to give back to our community for buying local... If you would like to promote your business at the egg hunt by having a card table at the event, you can pass out literature, business cards and of course Easter Eggs. In past years Great Clips has handed out discount cards and did free braids and temporary hair color for the kids. Arnold's Home Improvement has sent out their buddy Arnie the Hammer along with representatives to hand out flyers and goodies. PPBA EASTER EGG HUNT FUNDRAISERS Point Place McDonalds - Tuesday, March PM - 15% of all sales will be donated to Easter Egg Hunt. Eat in, Take Out or Drive Thru. Easter Bunny will be there for photos. Our Good Egg promotion will also be available that night, KT s Diner - Brunch with the Bunny - March 24, Easter Bunny will be there for photos. Our Good Egg promotion will also be available that day. At both fundraisers felt or paper Easter Eggs will be available for a small donation to the Easter Egg Hunt... You or your child can put your name on an egg to be hung up at McDonald s or KT s Diner. Supplies to decorate them will be there. Easter Bunny will be there for photos. Our Good Egg promotion will also be available that night, KT s Diner will have the eggs available for customers to give a donation and get an egg from March 17 through March 30.

7 PPBA NEWSLETTER MARCH Good Egg Tree Students that painted the eggs Area businesses, families and residents can have their name on a wooden egg to be hung on a tree in the lobby next to KT s Diner in Suder Plaza. It will also be at Easter Egg Hunt. They will be for anyone donating $25 in cash or prizes to the Easter Egg Hunt. Send your donation along with what you want your egg to say... Examples: KT's Diner * RITE AID * Fred & Judy Jones or Smith Family Good Egg Sponsors will also have their name on an Egg in the Point & Shoreland Journal. Example of ad in Point & Shoreland Journal Checks should be made out to PPBA with Egg Hunt in memo. Send your donation by March 24 to get your egg on the tree and name in the Point & Shoreland Journal.. Adults are needed to hand out prizes. Teenagers are welcome to help carry out the prizes and put out the eggs. The students of the Civic Leadership Pilot Program from Friendship Park Community Center, will be on hand to help also. Please be at FPCC by 8:30am.
