2 At the last Board meeting, it was decided that we would donate $100 US to the Rotary Foundation on every member s behalf, as well as donate to ROMAC, Interplast and other groups, once we have all moneys in that are owed from a couple of functions Other events which have taken place during the last couple of weeks include Dream Cricket, collecting for the Red Shield Appeal, barbecuing in Hyde Park for the Commemorative Day celebrations for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander veterans, and interviewing NYSF applicants from four different schools. I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to those who attended these functions, giving of their time and hard work. Secretary: Narelle Wilson (Correspondence) All correspondence has been distributed. At the latest Board Meeting (last Monday) it was decided that as all members are copied on relevant correspondence by the Secretary we will not include a listing here. Please contact Narelle if you have any questions!! Treasurer: No report Helen Wilson Club Service: Pat Gerardis Please look through the white folder as it moves around the room and mark yes or no if you will be available to attend or help with upcoming events. o o Tuesday the12th of June will be a Nosh at Wetherill Park TAFE starting at 6.30pm cost is $30.00 per person for a 3 course meal. To date we have 26 people attending I have tentatively book for 30 people so we still have room for more. If required I can book for extra guests, a menu will be supplied a week prior to the event and I will it to everybody that will be attending. Our Changeover will be on Saturday the 7th of July at the Holroyd Centre 17 Miller St Merrylands starting at noon. The Menu has been inserted into the white book. Sofia and I are in the process of sending invitations and finalizing the event. Please advise any special dietary needs. Community Service: Peter dezilva Dream Cricket event for the Holroyd school on Tuesday 22 nd May > 1400 was very successful, special thanks to all who supported the event, especially the High School Students from Cerdon, Greystanes High and St Pauls Catholic College Tuesday the 31st of July will be Year 10 Social Justice Day at Cerdon College. Volunteers are needed to BBQ / Serve - time will be 11.00am for setup then pack up and leave by approximately 2pm. Daffodil Day will be held on 24 August 2018 at Westmead Hospital. We need volunteers please Foundation: Julia Reid Reminder : Any Centurion Members or anyone wishing to join - the Rotary Foundation would be happy to receive your contribution. See Julia for more information. The Board has approved a donation of $4000 to the Rotary Foundation - $US100 for each member. International: John Melbourne A request to support Shelter Box will be referred to the Board NB Shelter Box are a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize

3 Fund Raising: Rod O Donoughue Next event planned will be a Fun 4 Kids BBQ on Friday 13 th July at Central Gardens, Merrylands Road, Greystanes Volunteers please Vocational: John Heslop The Warwick Tester Memorial Award will be presented to a 4 th Year Apprentice from Endeavour Energy at our Change Over. Membership: Robert Feil We have 2 Potential new members Sarah Morgan & Fatima Taha. Sarah and Fatima have both indicated interest and will become regular meeting attendees as they get to know us. A New Member Information Night is being planned for August 27 th. Members are asked to advise names / contact details for those they wish to invite to Rob Feil or robfeil47@yahoo.com New Generations: Barrie Britten We sponsored a MUNA Team from Cerdon (19 May). We received the following letter Dear Rotary members, On behalf of all the staff and girls involved in MUNA 2018, we would like to thank Holroyd Rotary for your support. It was great to see members of the club present on Saturday at the competition...thank you so much to all who attended! The girls were representing China and because of connections we were able to source some wonderful costumes including 3 chèuhngsāam (one formal keipo (qípáo) -an actual wedding dress!) and costumes from some of the ethnic Chinese minorities including Russia and Turkey. We think they look wonderful! 4 General Business Takako Noguchi from Japan, has been accepted as a Rotary Global Scholar and our Club is her Rotary Host Club. She will be arriving in mid -July and is looking for accommodation in our area, as she will be working at Westmead Hospital. We look forward to meeting her and having her attend our meetings and functions. CERDON will be holding their Annual Yr10 Social Justice Day on Tues 31 st July. Paul & Vera will be presenting to the students. Volunteers are needed to BBQ a sausage sizzle lunch. Profits will support purchase of a Shelter Box. Greystanes High School Year 11 mentoring is going well thanks to all Mentors 19 th Charity Golf Day Friday 2 nd November see Sofia or Rob!! Vera Liondas reported on her recent trip to the Philippines where she took part in Days 4 Girls & Sewing training events Welfare David Holz call Julie before you visit recommend you go as a Pair he may be asleep Irene Little is recovering from the effects of her treatment she visited members recently.
