2 W E L C O M E! Dear Corporate Sponsor: The WDS would like to take this opportunity to thank all our corporate sponsors for their generosity and enthusiasm over the past years. With your assistance the WDS has grown close to 1,400 members and has allowed us to produce many successful educational and career enhancing programs and events. All of these programs have helped women in dermatology "realize and fulfill their greatest potential" which is part of our mission statement. Please take a look at our new Sponsorship Opportunities brochure. The WDS has many programs, projects and events available for support. All sponsors will be recognized in the WDS Newsletter, on the WDS website and at the WDS Event/Program. We are also happy to work with individual contributors to devise appropriate sponsorship packages. 7 C O M M U N I T Y O U T R E A C H & P R O G R A M S Coast-2-Coast Program TOPS Program Regional Groups WDS promotes Sun Safety through Play Safe in the Sun, a broad-based national campaign. Through a wide range of outreaches nationwide, Play Safe in the Sun offers free skin cancer screenings, educational materials and literature, and complimentary samples of sunscreen. Each outreach is led by local WDS dermatologists, and the campaign is designed to help spread awareness of skin cancer prevention and proper skin health. Since the initiative began in 2004, 3 additional community outreach programs have been established: Coast-2-Coast, Dove Movement for Self- Esteem, and TOPS (time out, protect your skin) Program. Coast-2-Coast Program: This member-driven program extends past the summer months to provide tools for local sun safety and skin cancer prevention activities. Through this initiative, members are encouraged and equipped to create their own educational outreach event in their offices and/or communities throughout the year! TOPS (time out, protect your skin) Program: With the goal of educating parents and children about sun safety both inside the classroom and outside, the TOPS Program was created and is making a real difference to raise awareness about skin cancer and sun protection one school at a time. Through this program, WDS educates teachers, students, parents, and all school faculty on ways to improve sun-safe behavior and also provides a shade structure for each school s playground. W D S R E G I O N A L G R O U P S By creating WDS Regional Groups, the hope is to help facilitate local gatherings where networking, service, and educational projects can be planned and carried out more expeditiously, including projects and events that can be held concurrently in different cities with national organizational help. These groups will also be a channel for communication about the great things that are happening throughout the Women s Dermatologic Society. Types of Events: Educational: Lunchtime Leadership Webinars Networking: Pearl Events, Book Clubs Program: Webinars, Business Modules, Best Practice Sessions Service: Coast-2-Coast Events, Self-Esteem Programs, Dress for Success Events, TOPS, Skin Cancer Screenings 6 Regional Areas: Each regional area has a WDS Vice-Chair in place, as well as supporting WDS City Leads West Region Northwest Region South Region Southeast Region Midwest Region Northeast Region 7
