3 Message from the Chairman, Organizing and Scientific Committee Dear Colleagues, On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the First Saudi International Workshop on Disorders of Sexual Development (DSD) to be held on 25 and 26 of February 2017 at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Pediatric Urology Division and the Urology Department, aim to offer a multidisciplinary discussion not only to medical and surgical point of view but also to social, religious and psychological for a comprehensive approach to DSD conditions in our specific cultural context. The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, as the first tertiary care Centre in the Kingdom for the last 40 years, can offer a unique corniche of long term experience in managing these individuals. We are honored to host well known international guest speakers in this condition namely Prof. Piet Hoebeke from Ghent University and Prof. Syed Faisal Ahmed from Glasgow University, both well recognized authorities on urological and endocrinological aspects of DSD. We are delighted as well to welcome back Dr. Roberto De Castro, formerly Head and founder of the Pediatric Urology division at KFSH&RC and one of the first Pediatric urologists in the Kingdom. We are also honored to have a distinguished local expertise who thankfully accepted to share their local experience: Dr. Nadia Sakati, Prof. Yasir Jamal, Prof. Abdullah Al Herbish, Dr. Omar Modayfer, Dr. Ali Saeed Al Zahrani, and Dr. Bassam Bin Abbas. The conjunction of local and international experience will provide attendees the opportunity to enjoy the most updated state of the art in our region. For those unable to attend physically the Workshop and interested to be actively involved in the management of DSD conditions, there will be an opportunity to participate through an innovative webcast platform. On behalf the Organizing, the Scientific Committees and myself, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation and thanks to the numerous Departments of our Center for their effort to make this event possible. We hope to offer our delegates a friendly and fruitful environment to share experiences, doubts and new ideas on DSD, a group of conditions where the debate is far to be closed.
