2 Course Introduction: Pavement rehabilitation is defined as a structural or functional enhancement of a pavement which produces a substantial extension in service life, by substantially improving pavement condition and ride quality. Pavement maintenance activities, on the other hand, are those treatments that preserve pavements condition, safety and ride quality and therefore aid a pavement in achieving its design life. Pavement engineers need to have a fundamental understanding of pavement design and be able to adjust designs to include constraints such as curbs and gutters, utilities, private and commercial entrances while also considering roadway needs. The participants will have a broad knowledge about pavement design and rehabilitation treatments for flexible, rigid, roller-compacted concrete and composite pavement structures. Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the delegates will be able to: Define pavement rehabilitation and types of pavement Illustrate the guidelines for project-level data collection that includes roadway section definition, pavement section inventory, traffic analysis, distress survey, nondestructive deflection testing and etc. Discuss the different types of project-level pavement evaluation such as distress evaluation, structural evaluation, functional evaluation, drainage evaluation and identify uniform sections Differentiate between guidelines for selection of rehabilitation techniques and guidelines for formation of rehabilitation strategies Interpret the guidelines for life-cycle cost analysis of pavement rehabilitation strategies Who Should Attend? This course is intended for pavement engineers, design engineers, engineering consultants, contractor superintendents, civil technicians and technologists, construction inspectors, and to all individuals involved in transportation and pavement.
