1 The Personality Game There is a game on Facebook that will tell you your personality type based on your feelings about a series of photographs. The premise is there are four types of people in the world based on the matrix to the right. Going in, I expected the possible results to be Rational Introvert, Emotional Introvert, Rational Extrovert, and Emotional Extrovert. Here are the four personality types the game returns and the characteristics of each. Emotional Introvert: for others is a true gift and you possess a sort of kindness that is rare. Intelligent Introvert: Most defining characterstics: You are sensitive, melancholic and a perfectionist. You are a very emotional, caring and dedicated person. You believe that there is a bigger picture in life, one that we can t really see, but we can feel. You are very compassionate, strong minded, and devoted to your beliefs. Although you tend to get melancholic, your ability to empathize Most defining characteristics: Calm, curious, smart and introverted. You are a Thinker! You are a very thoughtful, reasonable, reliable and quiet person. You seek balance in life and you are very content being alone. You love reading books, learning new things, challenge yourself and have a good one-on-one conversation with an inspiring and knowledgeable person.

2 Emotional Extrovert: Intelligent Extrovert: Most defining characteristics: Your personality is mostly associated with fire! You are optimistic, restless and sensitive. You are a extroverted, eccentric and opinionated person. You tend to be impulsive and restless but at the same time passionate and sensitive. You love to be in charge and ambition is one of your strongest qualities. You have a very short fuse and a flaming temper. Patience for other peoples inadequacies or ignorance is something you lack, and you can come off as blunt and aggressive. Despite your flaws you are wildly intelligent, incredibly loyal and you do have a soft side that helps you create deep and meaningful relationships with people. Most defining characteristics: You are lively, outgoing and emotionally open. You are a leader! As you probably already know, you are a born leader! You are a very charismatic, passionate, mature and calculated person. You are always there when people need you, you always know the right thing to say, and you are always able to help. You have a great career, amazing family and lifelong friends, but you are no stranger to hard times as well. You ve had more than enough struggles through life, and although it seemed very daunting at the time, your good spirit and amazing set of skills has always helped you to overcoming them.

3 The Results: I clicked on the friendly Let s Play! button and dutifully responded to the questions. When I was done, the application informed me that my personality type was: Emotional Introvert. I read the description provided and felt it was reasonably accurate. But I was still curious. I wanted to read the descriptions for the other types as well. So I took the test again, being careful to select different answers. But, to my surprise got the same answer. Four times in a row it came back with Emotional Introvert. I knew then, I had to get serious. So I fired up an Excel spreadsheet and carefully recorded my answers and the results. By keeping my answers to the first six questions the same and changing up the last three, I was able to switch between Emotional Introvert and Intelligent Extrovert. (By the way, if the authors had followed the pattern set out in their opening matrix, this should have been Rational Extrovert rather than Intelligent. Rational is a better description than Intelligent, in my opinion.) To get Intelligent Introvert and Emotional Extrovert I changed up some of my answers to the first six questions as well as the last three. Emotional Extrovert was the hardest to figure out. I finally got there by choosing everything that was the opposite of what i liked. Conclusions and Comments: The results indicate there is some science behind this game. It is definitely several steps up from a fortune cookie, but still limited as there are more aspects to human being than this game addresses. Even though it works for men too, the game seems to be written mostly for women. The descriptions of the four personality types all feature photos of women which leads me to believe the writers had women in mind when they put the game together. And then there is the concept of looking at a generic photo and trying to identify my feelings about it. I m not real good at that. I didn t notice that I had any particular feelings for any of the photos. At least not that I knew of. Instead I chose my answers in a vague sort of preference oriented, like-or-not-like mode. Maybe the app was smart enought to figure out my feelings from that. It seems like it anyway, since the result was a match. Final Verdict: Positive. I don t understand it very much, but I enjoyed playing with it. I learned a little about how people work, including myself.

4 The Data Question 3: For those who like such things here are the questions and the answers I used to get the different personality types. Question 1: Question 4: Question 2:
