Exemplar for internal assessment resource Physical Education 1.5A for Achievement Standard Exemplar for Internal Assessment Resource Physical Education Level 1 Resource title: My Interpersonal Skills This exemplar supports assessment against: Achievement Standard Demonstrate Interpersonal Skills in a Group and Explain How These Skills Impact on Others Expected responses The moderators have developed expected student response from a wide variety of sources. Date version published by Ministry of Education December 2010 To support internal assessment from 2011 Crown 2010
Exemplar for internal assessment resource Physical Education 1.5A for Achievement Standard Commentary Note: that it is intended that students have the opportunity to demonstrate interpersonal skills over an extended period of time. The evidence on the teacher recording sheets has been gathered over a period of time through a module of sports education as required by the task. It should be noted that evidence of interpersonal skills could be gathered over a longer period of time (e.g. throughout the year). The step up in this standard is on the level of interpersonal skills demonstrated. The requirement to explain is the same across Achieved, Merit and Excellence. The annotations below are only for the practical evidence. The student is also required to explain how these skills impact on others. See separate document for an example of what explanation looks like over time in the format of an electronic diary as required by this task. Note: there is only one sample of an explanation as required at all levels of achievement (Achieved, Merit and Excellence). There is no step up in the explanation required. Crown 2010
Exemplar for internal assessment resource Physical Education 1.5A for Achievement Standard Grade Boundary: Low Excellence Jimmy From the evidence gathered over an extended period of time a holistic judgement has been made on the learner work. There is sufficient evidence that the student has consistently demonstrated a high level of interpersonal skills in a group. The student has predominantly been assessed at a high level of effort and engagement. There are only a couple of times where the student has been assessed at an Achieved level (demonstrating interpersonal skills). They are therefore assessed at a Low Excellence. To be assessed as a clear Excellence the learner would have always been assessed at a high level of interpersonal skills. Crown 2010
Exemplar for internal assessment resource Physical Education 1.5A for Achievement Standard Grade Boundary: High Merit Mila From the evidence gathered over an extended period of time a holistic judgement has been made on the learner work. There is sufficient evidence that the student has consistently demonstrated interpersonal skills in a group. The student has always demonstrated interpersonal skills and on occasion demonstrated a high level of interpersonal skills. They are therefore assessed at a High Merit. To achieve with Excellence a high level of interpersonal skills would need to be demonstrated consistently. Crown 2010
Exemplar for internal assessment resource Physical Education 1.5A for Achievement Standard Grade Boundary: Low Merit Tamihana From the evidence gathered over an extended period of time a holistic judgement has been made on the learner work. There is sufficient evidence that the student has consistently demonstrated interpersonal skills in a group. The student has mostly demonstrated interpersonal skills and on occasion demonstrated a high level of interpersonal skills. However, they have also been assessed on occasion at Not Achieved. They are therefore assessed at a Low Merit. To achieve at a clear Merit a student would not have any evidence at Not Achieved. Crown 2010
Exemplar for internal assessment resource Physical Education 1.5A for Achievement Standard Grade Boundary: High Achieved Hira From the evidence gathered over an extended period of time a holistic judgement has been made on the learner work. There is sufficient evidence that the student has demonstrated interpersonal skills in a group. Most of the time the student has demonstrated interpersonal skills in a group. However, there are occasions where the student has been assessed as not demonstrating interpersonal skills. Therefore the student has been assessed at the High Achieved level. To achieve with Merit, greater consistency of demonstration of interpersonal skills is required. Crown 2010
Exemplar for internal assessment resource Physical Education 1.5A for Achievement Standard Grade Boundary: Low Achieved Joe From the evidence gathered over an extended period of time a holistic judgement has been made on the learner work. There is sufficient evidence that the student has demonstrated interpersonal skills in a group. However, there are also a number of times that the student has been assessed as not demonstrating interpersonal skills. Therefore the student has been assessed at the Low Achieved level. To achieve at a clear Achieved the student would need to show less evidence at Not Achieved. Crown 2010
Exemplar for internal assessment resource Physical Education 1.5A for Achievement Standard Grade Boundary: High Not Achieved Anna From the evidence gathered over an extended period of time a holistic judgement has been made on the learner work. There is insufficient evidence that the learner has demonstrated interpersonal skills in a group. There are times where the student has demonstrated interpersonal skills. However, over time this is inconsistent with many Not Achieved. They are therefore assessed as a High Not Achieved. To achieve that standard there should be increased evidence of demonstration of interpersonal skills. Crown 2010
