Griffith, MD NEEDS The rapidly changing health care environment and pace of technologic innovations in medicine require urologists to keep abreast of state-of-the-art diagnosis and management of urologic disease. This conference focuses on current controversies and innovative diagnostic and treatment strategies for some of the most common urologic problems faced by clinical urologists in the region. Smith, MD, MBA Associate OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of the conference, participants should be able to: Identify which patients should be screened for low testosterone levels and appropriately treat those patients with hypogonadism based on evidence-based guidelines. Counsel patients regarding the risks and benefits of both surgical and nonsurgical options for stress urinary incontinence based on the updated 2009 AUA guidelines prior to undertaking treatment of the patient. Identify the latest techniques to diagnose and treat conditions such as bladder cancer, including hexyl aminolevulinate (HA) fluorescence cystoscopy. Identify urologic conditions that can be treated with botulinum toxin, including the benefits and risks. Discuss the risks and benefits of prostate cancer screening with patients in order for them to make an individual, informed decision whether to undergo testing. Identify appropriate patients for laparoscopic partial nephrectomy and utilize new techniques such as orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery. 3 EVALUATION Evaluation by questionnaire will address program content, presentation, and possible bias. ACCREDITATION/credit DESIGNATION Baylor College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Baylor College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 12.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Cancellation/Refund Policy Requests for registration refunds must be in writing and received by the Office of Continuing Medical Education (OCME) at least 10 business days before the activity begins. The date the request is received by the OCME will be considered the cancellation date. Requests received after the refund deadline will not be processed. Cancellations are subject to a $50 administrative fee deducted from the registration fee paid to cover guarantees and other expenses. Requests should be mailed to the OCME or faxed to The OCME reserves the right to cancel activities, not less than 10 business days before the scheduled date, if extenuating circumstances make it necessary.
