This Summer Conference is organised by ESICM, and endorsed by SRLF. New pathophysiological data has improved our comprehension of this serious condition and led to the use of new terminology Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), which represents a syndrome with systemic consequences. The availability of sophisticated renal replacement therapy in modern ICUs makes it difficult to recall the serious consequences for patients suffering from a failing kidney. This ESICM summer school will provide a comprehensive update of all aspects of AKI; including definition, classification, epidemiology, pathophysiology, risk factors and strategies for prevention. The format of this conference will be a mixture of state of the art lectures and interactive sessions. During this two-day event, participants will understand renal replacement therapy from a practical standpoint, with simulations as well as interactive case presentations. The aim is to provide an environment that is both enjoyable and conducive to learning. Acute Kidney Injury will allow participants to benefit from high quality presentations during the day and, in the evening, to enjoy Lyon a city known for its historical and architectural landmarks (UNESCO World Heritage site).
