You must be able to demonstrate competence at this level of the UK Occupational Language Standards (CILT, 2010). This means that you will be able to understand and use complex BSL in a range of work and social situations. 20 Sep Jun 18 Wednesday 10.00am pm 1,700 n/a LEVEL 6 CERTIFICATE INTERPRETER DIPLOMA: IBSL FUNDING AVAILABLE The aim of this Level 6 Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting is to promote underpinning knowledge, understanding of interpreting theories and a diverse range of skills required for those who are working and/or / or training as interpreters so that they are able to function with the high level standards expected of them. This Diploma is a taught qualification rather than an NVQ and requires you to achieve a set number of assessments / examinations and assignments in order to qualify and use the National Occupational Standards in Interpreting (CILT, 2006), which define competent performance in interpreting. The SkillsCfA, the UK standards setting organisation for languages, requires that you achieve language competencies in the languages which are intended to be used in your interpreting role(s) before embarking on this programme. These competencies include the relevant learner s national sign language at Level 6, plus any other accepted recognised language, whether spoken or signed but you must use the same two languages to complete each unit in order to achieve this qualification. It is recommended that you attend the first term in order to gain a full understanding of the corset making process before making your own size / style. In the autumn term you will make a standard size and style corset provided by the college in order to learn how a corset is constructed. The spring term focuses solely on pattern making. You will make a pattern to your own size and chosen style. In the summer term learners who have made their own pattern in the spring term will construct their corsets. No additional registration fee is payable for the courses in this section. Each class needs a minimum of ten people enrolled in order for it to run. If your course is cancelled or closed due to low numbers, you will receive a full refund, or you can transfer to another course during the same academic year.
