3 87 th TSO Convention WHERE: Frisco Conference Center - Frisco, Texas WHEN: June 23-25, 2016 CONVENTION HOTEL: Embassy Suites by Hilton (Overflow hotels: Hilton Garden Inn and Hyatt House) FRIDAY NIGHT ACTIVITY: RoughRiders baseball game (order tickets by May 1) Why Attend? By Janet Burgess, Convention Registrar My first convention was in San Antonio in I went with our chapter president and a former chapter president. Of course, they showed me the ropes, such as putting my Birthday Luncheon and Presidents Banquet tickets behind my name tag, buying a corsage for the Presidents Presentation and keeping it a secret, and telling me who the players were. Since then I have attended state convention every year but two. I love walking into a convention space knowing that every woman there is dedicated to children and has shared many of the same experiences I have. I love making new friends as well as seeing the smiling faces of women I have met in years past and catching up on our lives. I love attending workshops and getting excited about the projects and programs for the coming year. I try to imagine the total years of experience and the number of lives that have been touched by the women attending convention. I believe this year s convention in Frisco will be even bigger and better! I ll see you there! Frisco Art: Outside and In Does access to public art matter to a city and its people? City leaders in Frisco think it does! Outdoor art greets Frisco s window gazers, pedestrians, bikers, and drivers, inviting them to shift from thinking about the ordinary to pondering the extraordinary. Perhaps most remarkable of Frisco s public art is the Hall Collection and its Texas Sculpture Garden, located in Hall Office Park, 6801 Gaylord Parkway and Dallas North Tollway. At the office park s entrance, outdoor sculptures on four acres invite visitors to celebrate Texas sculptors and their art. The art interacts with native landscaping, water features, and building architecture. On the remaining Hall Office Park campus and in its buildings lobbies are artworks by artists from around the world. Yes, Frisco s city fathers have envisioned the good city, and they use public art to create living and working spaces citizens and visitors enjoy!
