1 THE BRITISH SOCIETY FOR RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY BOOK AT SPRING SCIENTIFIC MEETING Sensible solutions to frequent problems in dentistry The University Arms Hotel, Cambridge Fri 4 & Sat 5 May 2012
2 THE BRITISH SOCIETY FOR RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY SPRING SCIENTIFIC MEETING Dear Colleague It is hard to believe it is eighteen months since being elected President of the BSRD 2012 and charged with organising the scientific meeting on May 4th and 5th. I have chosen Cambridge as my venue as my wife Jo and I have always enjoyed meetings set in a small city. My theme is sensible solutions to frequent problems in dentistry and I am fortunate that marvellous speakers have agreed to lecture. Lyndon Cooper from California will speak on aspects of prosthdontics including solutions to meet expectations. We have periodontics from Francis Hughes, endodontics from Howard Lloyd and minimally invasive caries management from Avi Bannerjee. To widen our horizons John Buchanan is going to speak on oral medicine aspects that perplex us and Tony Hoskinson is going to enlighten us about our forebears the barber-surgeons. There is an active social side with the President s Golf Cup on the Friday morning at the prestigious John O Gaunt Golf Club. This proved to be an exciting event last year and I am extremely grateful to Mike Greenstein who has organised what will I am sure be a great event. The Friday evening has a champagne reception at the stunning Fitzwilliam Musem with dinner at the conference hotel the University Arms. I hope many of you will make a weekend of it as there is plenty to see in Cambridge including punting, the colleges and shopping. The Fitzwilliam museum is also holding a special exhibition of Chinese art never before seen out side China. This is available separately on the Sunday. I hope as many of you as possible will attend and please encourage your non member colleagues who are most welcome. Gary Pollock President
