FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE We believe in making membership and programs available FOR ALL PEOPLE, regardless of their ability to pay. This makes the YMCA unique, and we couldn t do it without the generous donors who help make this possible. Here s how it works: if you qualify, we will base our membership rates and program fees on your total household income. We want the diversity of our community to be reflected in our members, volunteers and staff. We believe this helps create an environment where all people feel welcome and valued. GUEST PASSES YOUTH $10 - ADULT $15 Guests may visit up to five times during a 12 -month period with the purchase of a day pass or with the use of a member s guest pass. Guests must be accompanied by a member unless a day pass is purchased. All guests must bring a photo ID. After five visits we encourage guests to become official members of the YMCA. We have cardiovascular machines, Selectorized strength equipment, free weight rooms and a certified, friendly staff. FREE ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING Are you unsure of how to use our cardio equipment? Do you have questions about our new weight room layout? Try participating in a FREE one-on-one session with a certified personal trainer or receive a complete tour of our facility. We will help you get to know the equipment, create a fitness plan, and help you gain confidence in your workout. WATER WORK OUTS WATER AEROBICS- Use the resistance of water to improve cardiovascular fitness & overall tone without the impact associated with land-based workouts. Aqua Zumba blends the Zumba philosophy with water resistance, for one pool party you shouldn t miss! There s less impact on your joints during an Aqua Zumba class, so you can really let loose! Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps tone your muscles. ZUMBA- Ditch the Workout, Join the Party is the battle cry of the Zumba Revolution. Zumba is the dance/fitness workout that uses African beats and Latin rhythms to help participants get fit in a party-like environment. Using an interval format, each Zumba class combines dance and fitness moves for cardiovascular health, toning and strength building. You ll get lean and toned and have a blast doing it! It s high intensity, fast-paced, and totally addicting! Tue& Thu 5:45am - 6:45am Aerobics Rm H.I.I.T. - Intensify your workout with High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.) Training classes. H.I.I.T. Training is a total body strength and cardio workout t hat is guaranteed to get your heart pumping. This interval-based training is designed to burn maximum calories in a short amount of time. 7 WELLNESS BODYPUMP: Is a non-impact weightsbased exercise class that works every major muscle group in the body using weights, a bar and a step. It strengthens, conditions and tones muscles, producing amazing results-fast. Mon, Wed 5:30pm - 6:30pm Comm Rm Tue, Thu 12pm -1pm Comm Rm Sat 10am - 11am Aerobic Rm BOKWA is different. It is not really a dance workout there is no choreography and no counting steps. Participants draw letters and numbers with their feet, while moving together to music in free form rhythm. Everyone is doing it. If you can move and you can spell, you can do Bokwa. Come join us and let s reach our goals together. Tue, Thu 5:00pm - 5:50pm Aerobics Rm CORE/ CIRCUIT CLASS : A quick and effective workout designed to get your core in shape. Selected equipment may be used, including stability balls, bands, or weights. Lower back exercises may be implemented. Circuit class follows the core class and is designed to promote skill, body position and deliver a high intensity, multistyle progressive workout. This is a challenging workout for all fitness levels. Mon, Wed, Fri 12pm 1pm Aerobics Rm PILOXING: This program uniquely blends the power, speed, and agility of boxing with the targeted sculpting and flexibility of Pilates. These techniques are also supplemented by the use of weighted gloves, further toning the arms and maximizing cardiovascular health. Add to that exhilarating dance moves and you have a muscle-toning, fat-burning workout that will make you feel physically and mentally empowered! Tues & Tue 6pm - 7pm Comm Rm DEDICATION MOTIVATION ACCOUNTABILITY Personal training Whether you re a new exerciser or wanting to take your fitness to the next level, our YMCA Personal Training Program will get you results. Work with a nationallycertified trainer, review goals, and develop a customized exercise program to meet your needs. Your trainer will guide you through each exercise offering feedback, motivation, and accountability. All sessions are 60 minutes. New to personal training? Try our starter pack. 8 WELLNESS BOOTCAMP Don t be intimidated by the name; challenge yourself! Bootcamp is a fun, non-traditional way to get in shape and feel great. Bootcamp caters to all fitness levels, from beginner through advanced. Utilizing resistance training with strength equipment and body weight (along with cardiovascular training). A massage relaxes your mind as well as your body to help you ease the stiffness and pain that may develop from your daily routine. Our massage therapy helps prevent injuries and eases recovery if injuries do occur. Make an appointment today and come relax with us. All massage therapists are licensed and certified. 1 hour sessions are $60 for members and $75 for community members. Massages are by appointment only. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and balls are offered for resistance. Chairs are used for seated and/or standing support. Mon, Wed, Fr 9am -10am YOGA CLASSES Spirit, mind, and body all come together in this calm and relaxing class. This can melt away the day s stress while helping to improve flexibility at the same time. The flow is slow, focusing on pose techniques, body alignment, and deep breathing. This is a great class to improve balance and flexibility while relaxing the mind. Mon, Wed 6:45pm - 7:45pm Comm RM SILVERSNEAKERS YOGA This class will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to help safely perform a variety of seated and standing postures. All moves are designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. 9 WELLNESS YOUTH WELLNESS The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 30% of youth ages 8 15 years old misperceive their weight. Approximately 81% of overweight boys and 71% of overweight girls believe that they are a healthy weight. Here in Texas, 20% of all youth years old are considered overweight or obese, according to research from the University of Texas School of Public Health. If left unchecked, obesity will put our children at risk for many chronic diseases seen in adults, such as: high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes. Let s combat obesity NOW! YOUTH WELLNESS GUIDELINES The following guidelines ensure the safety of our young people and provide a positive experience for our members. Members ages 8-14 must complete an orientation, personal training or similar YMCA program session before using any of the cardio or Selectorized equipment. A youth member under 12 years of age must be immediately accompanied by a parent or guardian. Youth ages 13+ may join any cardio class, as long as they are not disruptive and follow instruction. The instructor may ask a participant to leave the class at any point in time if safety is becomes a concern. Members ages 15+ have full use of the wellness center and classes. YOUTH STRENGTH TRAINING (ages 12-17) $40 for members/ $60 community members The Youth Strength Training program will show you healthy lifelong habits and enhance your athletic performance. If you re a parent of a teen and interested in introducing them to a healthy, active lifestyle, then our Youth Strength Training program is for you! This class includes: Cardio-respiratory training Flexibility training & stretching training Proper diet planning Basic understanding of muscle groups Off-season fitness and maintenance Classes meet twice per week Mon/Wed OR Tues/Thus 6:15pm 7:15pm 9

10 AQUATICS YMCA SWIMMING LESSONS YMCAs have been teaching people to swim for more than a century. In the YMCA aquatics programs, children learn to be safe around water and feel the sense of accomplishment that comes with learning something new in a positive, caring environment. Kids can develop lifelong skills that can help them stay healthy. 11 HOLIDAY CAMP At YMCA camps, kids will have a fulfilling time that will help them reach their full potential, make new friends, and make lifelong memories. Children will have the opportunity to explore and discover new experiences along with helping discover themselves. We offer camp at our YMCA location and to everyone in our community. 12 SPORTS YOUTH SPORTS The Y offers year-round youth sports and fun for kids at all skill levels. Learn a new sport or refine existing skills under the supervision of caring, skilled, and supportive Y coaches. Whether it s gaining the confidence that comes from learning a sport or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in sports at the Y is about building the whole child, from the inside out. 13 SPORTS VOLUNTEER COACH A mainstay of YMCA offerings for young people, Y youth sports programs fill kids discretionary hours with positive activities. We believe in caring cooperation over winning at any cost, and in developing good values over training the next superstar. Basketball and volleyball (both YMCA inventions!) are popular youth programs, as are flag football, T-ball, and soccer. COACH RESOURCES LEAD YOUR TEAM If you are interested in being a volunteer coach, please contact the sports director. No formal experience is necessary. Free online training is available! COACHES CHECK LIST Turn in the Volunteer Coaches Forms. If you already have one on file, you do not need to fill out another form. Each coach will undergo a criminal background check, and you will not receive your roster or jerseys until this paperwork is turned in and filled out completely. Review the Sports Parent Handbook for complete league information. Review the Coach Manual and Emergency Procedures for your records. Attend the mandatory Coaches Meeting Participate in your section of the online training program application today! Online training is available! ADULT SPORTS Whether you miss suiting up or are new to team sports, the Y adult sports leagues provide a perfect opportunity to be active, social, and reconnect or start fresh with a sport you love. With an emphasis on teamwork and cooperation, the YMCA offers recreational and league sports for men and women who want to have fun with others while getting an excellent workout. Team Sports: Volleyball Basketball Racquetball Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament Register: April 1st-April 27th Tournament: May 2nd Entry Fee: $250 Chapter Officials JUDO CLASSES (ages 3 and up) Judo is a modern martial art created by the Japanese. The principles taught by Judo mentors instill respect and discipline in your child and can lead to improved behavior inside and outside the classroom. Important life lessons are taught while your child has a blast! 14 OUTREACH & SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY YOUTH AND GOVERNMENT Youth & Government (Y&G) is a nationwide civic education and leadership development program. Y&G allows middle and high school students to experience state government in action, through legislative bills, mock trials, media reporting, Model UN and state affairs. Students meet regularly as a club throughout the year. Each club consists of participating students, a teacher sponsor, and YMCA staff and volunteers. Area clubs begin meeting in September. In November, clubs compete at district conferences, and the top individuals and teams advance to state conferences in the spring. Start your own Youth and Government Club! For more information about how to start a Youth & Government club at your school, contact the Outreach Program Director at VOLUNTEERS Did you know that you can make a significant impact on your community and the lives of children by volunteering at the YMCA? Our members and staff are impacted every day by YMCA volunteers. We have plenty of opportunities for those wishing to serve. The following are just a few areas where volunteers are most needed: Youth Sports Coaches are needed for every sport! No experience is necessary. Child Watch Aid Help with children ages 3 and up. (Must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer in Child Watch.) Assistant- Wellness, Aquatics and Sports Internship- Unpaid, any department Motivators These volunteers help other members stay motivated in their wellness journey. Our youth and government students at the food bank doing community service and having some fun! 14

15 Y STORY What's new at our YMCA! We have gone through many changes this year for the better! We have purchased new equipment and have added new classes, we have done some remodeling, our sports and aquatics programs have grown and our members are just the best. We like hearing feedback if there is anything we can do to make your experience better here at the Y, please let us know.
