2 8:30-9:20 Session 1 Presenter: Laura Dressler Name of Session: Techniques of CPR Target Audience: Description: American Heart Association recommendations for Heartsaver and Hands-Only-CPR (video based with practice-while-watching format) for adult CPR and AED use as well as how to treat choking victims. *** If you require a Heartsaver CPR card there will be an additional $4 charge. 9:20-9:30 Break 9:30-10:20 Session 2 Session 1 and 2 are combined to allow for CPR certification 10:20 10:30 Break 10:30-11:20 Session 3 Presenter: Curt Robertson Name of Session: National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Presentation Target Audience: 4-12 Grade Educators Description: Teachers will receive and introduction to the program as well as the equipment used for the program. Teachers will receive information how they can get FREE equipment for new schools or grant on equipment for existing schools. 11:20-11:30 Break 11:30-12:20 Session 4 Presenter: Curt Robertson Name of Session: Fishing Education It s a Keeper Target Audience: K-8 Educators Description: Teachers will be introduced to a new pilot program that encourages outdoor recreation in SD. Teachers will have the opportunity to apply for free aquatic education instruction and free fishing equipment for their schools. 12:20-1:30 Lunch & Travel Food and Beverage (Pop or Water) will be provided at the school 1:30-2:20 Session 5 * Taking place at the Avera Fitness Center Option A Presenter: Laura A. Schuldt, Ed.S., LPC-MH, NCC, QMHP, RPT-S, ACS, Outpatient Therapist Name of Session: Peer Aggression: Relational Aggression and Bullying Audience: School Professionals Description: This presentation reviews types of peer aggression and components of those interactions. It offers helpful strategies to manage this behavior in schools.
3 Option B Name of Session: Drug Use and Healthy Choices Presenter: Leah Rath, LPC, CCDC III, Outpatient Therapist, Addiction Recovery Program/BHS Audience: Teachers, Counselors, P.E. and Health Instructors Description: Signs/symptoms/issues associated with drug use involving youth, and the strategies for the target audience to assist their students to make healthy choices to prevent drug use-related difficulties. 2:20-2:30 Break 2:30-3:20 Session 6 Name of Session: - Tai Chi (Mind Body Studio) Description: Different forms of Tai Chi and Qi Gong, with main focus on Yang style form and technique. Avera McKennan Fitness Center Instructor Name of Session: - Power Pacing (Gym) Description: This group cycling class is for all levels of fitness. Bring a water bottle! 3:20-3:30 Break 3:30-4:20 Session 7 Name of Session: Boot Camp (gym) Description: Basic calisthenics exercises done in a group format. Challenge your fitness level with this class. Name of Session: Pilates (Mind Body Studio) Target Description: Introduces the basics and fundamentals of Mat Pilates, then applies the skills in a Level 1 Mat Pilates Class. We will discuss some ways to help families eat better, including some tips from the new ChooseMyPlate, and discuss differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes in children. Included will be research or the lack of research on dietary supplements. 2:30-2:40 Break 2:40-3:30 Session 14 Presenter: Samuel Schimelpfenig MD FAAP Name of Session: Concussion in Sports Target Audience: Coaches, Teachers, etc. Description: Review of current concussion management recommendations Presenter: Derek Ferley, Exercise Physiologist and Education & Research Coordinator of Avera Sports Institute Name of Session: Plyometrics Target Audience: Coaches, Teachers, etc. Description: An introduction to the history and physiological rationale for plyometric training and how these training techniques relate to the health, fitness and performance of a variety of populations. This discussion will include a review of current research, and an introduction into how to integrate plyometric training into a fitness and/or training regimen. 3:30-3:40 Break 3:40-4:30 Session 15 - Break Out Session!
