1 From Commander Steve Jackson The election season has begun. We have candidates for Commander, Sr. Vice Commander, Jr. Vice Commander, Chaplain and Trustee. The Post still needs candidates for Quartermaster and the House Committee. Nominations for all positions will be accepted at the next meeting. The election will be held immediately after nominations are closed. As a reminder, if you plan to nominate a member for of fice, who will not be at the meeting, you must present a sign letter from the person accepting the nomination. I want to thank Barry Preston for volunteering to serve on the House Committee. We need more members to step up. Remember that the membership runs the Post. On March 30 we will begin the installation of new carpet and tile in the banquet room. Shortly after that new drapes will be installed. As in the past the doors to the banquet room will be locked during construction. For your safety please remember to come and go via the canteen entrance. Many of you may not be aware that a lot of self help is being completed on the weekends by David Kilpatrick and his friend Phil. Also Keith Tremblay and his brother Ron complete many repairs outside of normal operating hours. Thank you to all, for all you have done for the Post and the membership. Junior Vice Commander Tom Piekarski has completed updating the files to re flect only current members DD-214s are in the active file. The DD214s of past members have been put aside and can be easily retrieved if the previous member becomes active or it is needed by the member or his family. As with every month volunteers are needed for the various Post activities. Bingo is one of our biggest fund raisers but late in the evening it hurts for help. Many of our senior volunteers leave at half time because of dif ficulty driving after dark. The biggest help with bingo would be to come in about 8pm and stay to the end. Only asking for 2 to 2 1/2 hours of your time. From Auxiliary President Chrissy Padovano Hello everyone, our year is coming to an end, I would like to thank you all for all that you have done this year to make the Auxiliary run as good as it did. All of us need to work together in order to make things work as well as they do. So, with that being said, we will be having elections this month to pick our new of ficers, so please come to our meeting on April 18, We will be having an Ice Cream Social on April 10th at 7pm for the coloring contest. Stop in to see all the great coloring that the kids have done. April 14th we will be having a Family Fun Festival from 10 to 2. There will be an Arts and Craft Show, just a few vendors. We will be having a lot of fun things for the kids to do, games music, flag etiquette, face painting, and finger printing by the Sheriff's Department. If you don't have kids or grand kids, you can just come by and check out the Arts and Crafts. We will be serving lunch from 11 to 2 as well as ice cream sundaes and root beer floats. Come and show your support. All the proceeds will go to the Veterans and Families. Please remember that the next District meeting will be May 19th in DeBary. 2 VFW 8696 has immediate openings for the following postions: BINGO Caller, Thursday Bingo floor help, Friday Night Dinner Cashier, Friday Night Dinner Prep room servers, Monday thru Friday Lunch Cashiers, Post closer's to secure and lock the post at night. None of the jobs are labor intensive, but need to be done. The pay is not great, heck there is no pay, but you will receive a free dinner. Contact Commander Steve Jackson, or Sr. Vice Keith Tremblay.
