Komen Greater NYC continues to be the local leader in the fight against breast cancer, ensuring that women like Joy Parks (who you will read about later) will live to see their children grow up. Joy credits the breast cancer diagnostic and treatment services she received with her survival. DEAR KOMEN GREATER NYC FRIENDS, Thanks to your support, Komen Greater NYC awarded $2.3 million in grants to fund local breast health screening, treatment, support and education programs and $700,000 to fund critical breast cancer research to find the cures in our program year. Unbelievably, 1,314 cases of breast cancer were diagnosed breast cancer that might otherwise have been undetected giving these women a better chance at survival thanks to you. 4 4 CREATING MORE BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS SINCE 1990 Komen Greater NYC is: The leading local resource for the medically underserved in need of breast cancer screening, treatment, diagnostic and support services. A strong, locally driven grassroots organization led by dedicated staff and a passionate Board of Directors and supported by thousands of volunteers. 9 FINANCIALS For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014, Komen Greater NYC had revenues of $8.1 million, including in-kind goods and services of $3.7M and applied $744,000 from reserves to offset expense of $8.9 million. Expenses included $2.75 million invested into mission-related programs and activities, consisting of $2.0 million allocated to local community grants and $750,000 invested in national research programs to find the cures.
