1 FYE 2017 ANNUAL REPORT
2 Liz Stevens, Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer Survivor A Message from the Board President The personalized service that Women Rock, Inc. offers by allowing fighters and survivors to connect, share their stories, and provide each other hope is just incredible. Without the ongoing help of our community sponsors, Women Rock would not be able to continue to increase the number of ladies served each year. From its beginnings in 2010 of providing 60 services to 20 ladies, to closing out 2017 by providing 852 services to 327 in 15 counties, the future is incredibly bright for Women Rock and it is because of the generous support of our community. I know the ladies that we help would agree that you help us give hope, make a difference, assist ladies with the early detection of breast cancer and help the legacy of those gone, but not forgotten, live on. We look forward to building even more partnerships and are committed to educate and assist even more in A huge Thank you to all the individuals, companies, organizations, physicians, and volunteers whose dedication and support are helping save more and more lives, every day. Keary Conrad 2018 Board President A Message from the Founder/CEO When I look back over the last 7 1/2 years, it seems surreal that Women Rock is where we are today! We started with very humble beginnings: a small savings account and a family that pitched in to get the work done! I never saw this in the cards for me, but I have always said, I didn t choose Women Rock, Women Rock chose me. The inspiration behind Women Rock, Susan Hicks, was a faithful Woman of God who not only impressed me with how she lived her life but how she accepted her journey with breast cancer. Journey was her word; battle was mine. She truly did give it all to God. Not that she didn t pray to be cured because she did - every single day! She also told God she would trust in him and if he didn t cure her, to take her hand and lead the way and make her journey count. And so HE did. On behalf of our Board of Directors, Survivors, Caregivers and Volunteers, I extend sincere gratitude to the community we call home. Through your love and support, we are changing and saving lives! There just aren t enough words to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you! It hasn t always been easy, but it has always been worth it! Thank y all from the bottom of my heart for your support and making this journey possible! 3 I am Liz Stevens. I am a Survivor! Through the presence of Women Rock in my life and the life of my family, I have been made stronger! I have had wonderful support from a group of people who give and care straight from their hearts! With a loving grant from Women Rock, our financial burden was lifted a little. I threw out the opening pitch at a baseball game, dropped a puck at a hockey game, and I told my breast cancer testimony to an audience of over 800 people at Bras for a Cause! Women Rock has given me cheers and love from strangers; a gift that makes my breast cancer journey more bearable. Women Rock has given me a community of survivors and people who care deeply for me; giving me added strength to fight a dragon that no one should have to fight alone. Thank you to the loving giving hearts that make Women Rock the wonderful organization that is. We do not fight alone because you are here.
