2 EAA Chapter 766 Activities On October 22, 2016, Ralph Cowin and Glenn Valenstein drove a group of eleven from the Aviation Heritage Center at 8:00 am to the Warbird Heritage Foundation Museum (founded by Paul Woods). The museum is located at 3000 Corporate Dr. Waukegan, IL. Upon arrival, Sean Roarty (the Director of Maintenance) greeted the group. He is a licensed airframe and power plant technician that also holds an inspection authorization. Sean was a great tour guide, exhibiting his knowledge on the two-hour tour of numerous displays. After lunch at the Shanty, the group went to the Russell Military Museum located at N N U.S. Hwy 41, Zion, IL. Planes, jeeps, tanks and rare military vehicles were on view indoors and outdoors on an 8-acre site. The group headed back to Sheboygan discussing the day s activities. Some of the photos of the trip are included below for your viewing pleasure. Thanks to Glenn Valenstein for organizing the adventure.

5 Movies at the Aviation Heritage Center of Wisconsin Dan Miller features a movie every second Friday of the month at the Aviation Heritage Center of Wisconsin. The cost of the film class is only $2.00 per person. After the movie, audience participation discussing the movie s content is always welcomed. Popcorn, candy, water and soda are available for purchase. The doors open at 6:30 pm and the film class begins at 6:45 p.m. November s Movie One Six Right is a documentary that celebrates the unsung hero of aviation, the local airport. Southern California's Van Nuys Airport is at the center of the story that traces the life, history, and struggles of this airfield and so many others. Thrilling aerial photography and a beautiful musical score create a moving experience for the viewers. December s Movie Twelve O'clock High is a stirring tribute to the men of the Eighth Air Force, who fought in the skies over Europe during WWII. Gregory Peck, plays General Frank Savage, who is assigned to whip a badly demoralized bomber group back into shape. Taken from the fiction novel of the same name, this Academy Award winning film has become one of the best-made war pictures ever made.
6 News from EAA Oshkosh Redbird Conference to Migrate to Oshkosh in 2017 October 27, Jerry Gregoire, owner and founder of Redbird Flight Simulations, announced at their popular annual Migration flight training conference at the Redbird Skyport in San Marcos, Texas, this week that the conference will be moving next year. If we tried to continue holding the conference here at the Skyport, we d have to start limiting attendance, and we re convinced that would be a very bad idea, Gregoire said. I m very pleased to tell you that, thanks to our good friend and board member Jack Pelton, Migration 2017 will be held at the EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh. The Migration conference, currently in its sixth year, brings together several hundred flight-training professionals from around the world. The conference emphasizes networking and offers presentations by key players in the industry, as well as numerous smaller breakout sessions. While the conference may have started as a means for Redbird to connect more closely to their simulator customers, it s grown beyond that, into an event that s focused on finding solutions for the issues faced by flight instructors and flight schools worldwide, whether or not they involve flight simulation. This year s event was hosted by Redbird board chairman Craig Fuller, and featured keynote presentations by AOPA s Paul Harris; Cirrus CEO and co-founder Dale Klapmeier; President and CEO of Passur Aerospace Jim Barry; and Piper Aircraft President and CEO Simon Caldecott. In addition, EAA senior editor Hal Bryan joined Robert Goyer of Plane and Pilot magazine, freelance writer Amy Laboda, and Ian Twombly from AOPA for a spirited keynote panel discussion entitled What We Really Think.
