5 Only Having Insurance Through Work Doesn t Work Do you know anyone whose life or career has drastically changed during these years of economic downturn? It s very likely that someone in your immediate or extended family or group of friends is facing financial uncertainty. Maybe there s a possibility that you (or your spouse) could change employers, or even lose your job. Too many people have often relied on group term life insurance as their only safety net. Often, this insurance is an employee benefit provided at low or no cost. The existence of this coverage might convince someone that personally-owned life insurance is not necessary. But only having through work insurance can leave you and your family vulnerable. Most group life insurance policies are limited in amount, which may be tied to salary or some other benchmark. These numbers are often capped, and this cap may be dangerously low when compared to your family s actual needs. In fact, a detailed needs analysis that evaluates your specific situation, will likely show that any employer-provided coverage falls short. In addition, the amount of group insurance offered is almost always reduced, sometimes dramatically, when you retire. You could one day find yourself without coverage, and if your health has changed (which it will as you age), you might also find yourself unable to secure individual protection. At the very least, it will definitely be more expensive. While group life insurance can help, it does not replace the need for individually owned life insurance. I ll be happy to meet with you and provide a no-cost needs analysis, so you ll know exactly where you stand. Kevin Maxwell Field Agent (850) kevin.maxwell@kofc.org 5

6 July Summer Social Once again the July social was at Mike and Diane s place. While there were less attending than previous years that allowed more time spent chatting with others. Mike provided the pictures which can be viewed at this link. Our Council has a WEB site operating under the name KofC10853.com please feel free to access it and also feel free to your comments to Grand Knight so that your ideas can be incorporated into the site. 6

8 August 21st Breakfast On August the 21st we had a pancake breakfast for the parish using the new and improved kitchen in the Parish hall. Many unsolicited compliments were received which causes me to reflect on the two people responsible for the cooking and quality; thank you Russ Booth and Matt Gazdecki. In addition to the cooking Russ also provided the food itself now that s going the extra mile! We fed approximately 215 people and added around $900 to our capacity to help our community. Way to go Knights. To view more pictures visit this link. The following Knights and friends worked at the breakfast: Russ Booth Roger Brickner Sheri Cassidy John Cassidy Duane Costello Matt Gazdecki Frank Guercio John Jobo Judi Jobo James Jones Barry Larson Jose Lopez Diane Memmesheimer Mike Memmesheimer Arron Newbeck Ric Paquette Andy Rudiman Jim Stana Mark Thomas Patrick Thomas Dalie Villafana Jose Villafana Paul Williams 8

9 Father Anthony Final Vows O n Monday August 22nd 2016, Father Anthony our Pastor received final vows as a TOR Franciscan at our Parish Church. It was a wonderful event attended by many visiting clergy which included Bishop John Noonan as well as the Bishop from Jamaica with dozens of TOR clergy as well. The service began at 6:30 in the Gathering Space and was supported by a color guard of Fourth Degree Knights from Assembly Many students from Bishop Moore High School also attended. At least forty Knights and family members were in attendance. Our Church was packed which was wonderful to see. Afterward there was a catered gathering with refreshments and snacks. The ladies of the parish provided the desserts. This link will show you many more pictures and a booklet provided to those attending the event.. Thanks to Mike M. and Barry L. for their help 9
