Much information was provided to help us plan for a successful ending to our current Fraternal year as well as information for the State Program Awards to be given at our upcoming convention and how to apply for those awards.our Council was presented with the Star Council Award we earned during the Fraternal year, and Grand Knight, Program Director and Membership Director were presented a Star Council lapel pins. Are you tired of the cold, the rain, the snow and ice? If so, then pack your bags, we are all headed to the South Pacific for a week as a reward for our hard work and enjoy some summer weather. Too bad, so sad: no such award is real, however, it never hurts to have happy thoughts. For the month of February, our Family of the Month is the Michael Dauerer family. Mike, Emily, Maria, Nicholas, and Maximilian are very active in our Parish and our community. Mike and Emily are actively involved as Proclaimers of the Word and Eucharistic Ministers. Maria, Nick and Max are Alter Servers. When weather permitted the children were involved in various community sports programs, and Mike and Emily made sure they got to those events. Mike helped us with some of the events we worked at LP Field. The Dauerers attend mass together as a family, and set an example for our entire faith community. The Dauerer family is an excellent example of Christian faith and service to our Church, our Council, and our community. We are truly blessed to have them as a part of our of Columbus family. For the month of February, our Knight of the Month is Walter Koth for his outstanding service to our Council. Walter led our Council s MR drive efforts by attending all Smyrna High basketball games and offering s to the attendees of the games. He organized our drives at Walmart, Kroger and Kmart. Walter is also an active Eucharistic minister, usher, and minister to the homebound and shut ins. Walter attends all meetings, Council events and fund raisers. Walter works at the Smyrna Rescue ham breakfasts to promote Catholicism in the community. Walter is an excellent example of what a Catholic and a of Columbus is in reference to Council, Church and community. We are truly blessed to have his dedicated service and to call him a Brother Knight. Please keep Father Jacob in your prayers that he will continue to be a dedicated servant of the Lord and our Parish. Let us also keep all our sick and distressed family members and especially Bishop Choby in our prayers. Vivat Jesus! 2 See the attached calendars below for Council and Parish related events of interest to Brother. 1 st Degree Exemplification Our next tentative First Degree is scheduled for March 2, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. as a make up for our February degree that was canceled because of ice and frigid weather. Titans Season IS Finished!!! The 2014 season is in the books. Although not a good season for the Titans, it was a good season for our Council. Hopefully the Titans will rebuild, and the 2015 season will be better. We have to start thinking about staffing our concession stand this next season, and help will be needed. We encourage members and adult family members to get trained (if not already) and help us out by volunteering to work a game or two throughout the season. St. Luke s Free Films Brad Schepisi is conducting a free film night at St. Luke s each month. Watch the Church bulletin for the next feature, date and time. Support of Veteran s in Local VA Hospitals The have setup in the Social Hall a box to collect items to be donated to our disabled veterans who are in our local VA Hospitals. There is a list of items that are needed attached to the box. There are a lot of our veterans who have no family at all and no means of getting just the basic hygiene items. If you are able to help, please drop off your items in the Narthex. If you have large items to donate or want to volunteer some of your time at the VA Hospitals, for more information you can contact Vic Finch, at It is not too late, if please bring a wrapped gift (new or gently used, no glass, no alcohol) to the Forth degree meeting December 3, to the box in the Narthex, or to our Adult Christmas Party with a label identifying male or female, size, and gift identification to be distributed to veterans in Veterans Home at VA Hospital in Murfreesboro. MR Brother Walter Koth, our MR Director reported that our Council raised an additional $ at our MR Drives at Walmart and Kroger in January, $ at the Smyrna High Football and games, $ at Smyrna Rescue, $34.00 at Gil s Ace Hardware, and $ and $ at es for a total of $ along with a total of 230 man hours to date in our MR Drives. Walter indicated we had an upcoming Drive at Kmart (an April Saturday and three more Smyrna Rescue ham breakfast drives before we finish out this year. With a little luck, we hope to have raised around $ to add to the $ we submitted to the MR Foundation already. This promises to be our best MR Drive year in a long time. Walter and I thank everyone who has given time to help the Special Citizens of our Community and State. Please Note: We are planning to have a of Columbus Corporate Communion. The date is not cast in stone yet. We hope to have the Corporate Communion, Saturday, April 18 or April 25, and after go to Jim N Nicks for a Dutch treat meal. More details when plans are finalized.
