It s hard to believe that Fall is upon us.. Recently, due to the catastrophic floods in Texas, the Elks Disaster Relief Program, donated $25,000 to help victims of the disaster. I wanted everyone to know that by being an Elks member, part of your annual dues goes to help fund this program. Along with this donation, our Lodge Standing Relief Committee decided to send an additional $500 to the Relief Program. This money in part, was raised through raffles and other drawings that you generously participate in. I want to personally thank you all for your help. For all interested, I would encourage you to go register on the elks.org website. This is for all members, and it gives you news and events that are going on nationally within the Elks. 17 W. Franklin St., Troy, OH Phone: troyelks833@frontier.com FROM OUR SECRETARY 3rd Year Trustee-Todd Ormberg 2nd Yr Trustee-Tom George 1st Yr Trustee-Roger Barhorst Let s give our Officers and Trustees our full support! We currently have approximately 550 members, but only 48 are registered. Please take a few minutes to check it out. By the time this newsletter is published, we will have completed our annual 5K race. After much planning, everything finally came together. We thank all of those who volunteered their time, those who participated in the race, those who donated raffle prizes, and all those who helped sponsor financially. Please remember to thank Maggie and her Committee for all the hard work that went into planning this fund raiser. There will be more Lodge events coming up in the next few months, please watch for announcements at the club, on Facebook, or in s. In closing, I ask that you always be mindful of all our Members who are in sickness and distress, and keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for being an Elk, Gordon Vance PER/ER Happy Fall Everyone! We are now six months into the current Lodge year and we still have about 60 members who are delinquent in paying their dues. If you know someone who hasn t renewed their membership, please encourage them to do so! Lots of activities and great food and parties coming up in the next few months, not to mention the drawings and raffles! We need to maintain our membership to sustain the Lodge and new members to grow it! Please invite your family and friends in for an evening like Tuesday or Friday night for dinner so they can experience the friendly atmosphere and good food! There is a copy of the delinquent member report posted at the Lodge, feel free to take a look and reach out to anyone you know. If they are having any issues with the Lodge, please have them contact an Officer or Trustee and we will try to get it worked out for them! If you have a change in address, phone number or , be sure to let me know so I can update our records and you won t miss out on any mailings! Lisa Agenbroad, Secretary The annual Lodge Memorial Service will be held this year on Sunday, December 3rd. The Memorial Service will be at 4:00pm. Please keep the families of our recently deceased members in your thoughts and prayers: William Thompson, Richard Thiel, Marion Moler PER and Richard Boak
2 TRUSTEES NOTES Gobler Gamble A fun time. Gobbler Gamble this year will be held on Monday, November 20th at 7pm! Watch club for details. Sunday Football- Come join us on Sunday s for the Touchdown Club. We are doing a season long 50/50 and to get in you must make a purchases at the club on Sunday! Bring a dish to share and come join the fun! The continues to grow quickly (at this writing). As well, the Friday night drawing has capped at 10K and a second Friday night drawing is growing quickly. We would be remiss not to mention the Daily and Saturday drawings. Both are looking really good and ALL of the drawings are prime for some lucky person to win. Frequently, we have 50/50 drawings that are yielding hundreds of dollars each time to the fortunate person holding the correct number sequence! Furnace News, Hurricane Aid and Sidewalk Concerns vthe old furnace has been removed and the installation of the new one has been COMPLETED!!!!!! Again, a BIG thank you to Lisa A, our secretary, for her stick-to-it effort in working with our reluctant insurance company for a number of months. Thank you LISA! vwe continue to monitor the hurricane victims needs and have been sending money to help fund the recovery efforts. More info will be coming in the next newsletter. vsidewalks remain a great concern for our club. As you are aware, the city has directed us to replace most of the walks. Being a corner lot in this case is not to our advantage in that we have TWO stretches of walk to replace. We have had bids come in with a wide range of quotes. This is an on-going project and we will keep you informed as we progress with the project. Rentals The BALLROOM and the FARM RECREATION CENTER can be rented for any and all of your special occasions at very reasonable prices. If you haven t checked it out the Ballroom was just freshly painted and looks really nice. Thank You! Last, but certainly not least! THANK YOU to the people who help make this club a GREAT place to relax, meet with friends, and have a good meal and beverages. The bar staff, kitchen staff and servers continue to do an excellent job! Let s not forget the host of volunteers who give a tremendous amount of their personal time along with their expertise in menu planning and the food preparation. Please make the effort and take the time to thank all of our employees and volunteers who take great pride in being part of the club. If you would like to get more involved with any aspect of our operation, just say the word and we are sure your wish will be granted. PLEASE REMEMBER. THIS IS YOUR CLUB AND WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING A GREAT FALL SEASON WITH FOOTBALL AND A COUPLE MORE FARM EVENTS! WHEN THINKING ABOUT WHERE TO GO WITH YOUR FRIENDS IN THE EVENING OR FOR LUNCH, PLEASE CONSIDER COMING TO YOUR CLUB! Thank you, Trustees
