3 Preface Dear colleagues, On behalf of Department of Nutrition and Health, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada, we are delighted to invite you to the 7 th International Symposium on Wellness, Healthy Lifestyle and Nutrition. The symposium will take place from Thursday the 3 rd to Friday the 4 th November 2016, in the cultural and historical city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The scientific program will include the latest discoveries in research related to wellness, healthy lifestyle and nutrition in Asia Pacific. There will be parallel programs and joint sessions to ensure that delegates are given the chance to increase their knowledge and network. There will be many opportunities to discuss and share our experiences and works with academia, health practitioners, industry and government. 4 Background To ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals that have been launched by World Health Organization. In order to achieve the goal, Asia Pacific have several issues related to health that are need to be finished including environmental health, communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, reproductive health and health system development. To address the problems an annual meeting was initiated to bring together key persons within regions discussing challenges and alternatives to improve health problems within regions. The International Symposium on Wellness, Healthy Lifestyle and Nutrition (ISWHLN) is one of the regional forums on wellness, disease prevention, healthy lifestyle, food and nutrition. The conference was started in Yogyakarta-Indonesia (2010) and has been organized in several other countries in Asia Pacific region such as Thailand and Malaysia. The ISWHLN has played an important role in the building network between scientists and health practitioners across the region to enhance health and wellbeing by a healthy lifestyle. This year, the congress will be held in Yogyakarta under the theme Lifestyle and nutrition for a better health to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) in Asia Pacific. Plenary sessions and presentation sessionswill underscore the effort for improving a healthy lifestyle and preventing non-communicable diseases through sharing of innovative evidence-based knowledge and practices.the congress expects to attract around 300 delegates from different countries in Asia Pacific including health care professionals, public policy leaders, activists, researchers, journalists, governments, as well as national and international civil society organizations. 4

5 Aim The 7 th International Symposium on Wellness, Healthy Lifestyle and Nutrition aims to bring together academic scientists, health practitioners, industry and government to exchange and share their experiences in health, wellbeing and nutrition. This will be a multidisciplinary forum with focus on the innovations, trends and challenges towards lifestyle and nutrition related issues to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) in Asia Pacific. We also will arrange a meeting with an objective to foster future collaboration in wellness and sustainable health between countries in this region. Symposium Scope International Symposium on Wellness, Healthy Lifestyle, and Nutrition (ISWHLN)2016 is organized bydepartment of Nutrition and Health, UniversitasGadjahMada (UGM) Indonesia to facilitate meeting of experts, researcher, academia, health professional, and students around the world who have interest to study aspectsthat influence health and wellbeing. This symposium is held annually by a university network in Asia Pacific region. English will be the official language of the symposium. Although the ISWHLN more emphasizes topics on relation of lifestyle on health, which covers physical activity, healthy behavior, eating pattern, nutrition, etc., other topics related to the mentioned topics are welcomed to participate in this event. Example of topics are, but not limited to: 1. PUBLIC HEALTH & EPIDEMIOLOGY Communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, environmental health, global health, health &climate change 2. NUTRITION Clinicalnutrition, community nutrition, nutrigenomics, nutrition and disaster 3. FOOD SCIENCE & FOOD SAFETY Food security, food science, functional food, food safety regulation & standard, halal food production, food borne hazards, food service, local food 4.
