Corporate Partnerships and Employee Involvement Reg. Charity No Working together caring for life Caring for patients and families in Worcestershire who are living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Together we can give our patients and families the best quality of life possible.
Why choose to support St Richard s Hospice? Each year, free of charge, we look after over 2,400 patients and family members suffering with life threatening illnesses. Donations go towards supporting families, friends and colleagues in our local community throughout Worcestershire. This year we need to raise in excess of 6.7 million and we depend on local companies to support us. Whatever your reason or motivation for getting involved we can promise you that your journey with St Richard s Hospice will be both rewarding and fun. So come on get involved! Words from those who have experienced St Richard s care: To a very dedicated and amazing staff team, all of you are very special people, but our thanks and total admiration is for those staff who helped ease and manage Dad s end of life journey. Everyone played a significant part but those staff who helped us get through the long nights after a long day we are especially grateful to You are all very magical people and shining stars. As a nurse for over twenty years it was a relief to see the high standard of nursing care he received at the hands of your staff. It meant he died with the dignity he deserved, with his family around him. Thank you cannot express what we feel for the care and love you gave not just for our Mum but for our whole family. You all made what should have been a terrible time very peaceful, caring and uplifting. St Richard s truly is a wonderful place and we feel very privileged to have been able to spend Mum s last days with you all. Thank you for all your skill, care and kindness in getting my pain medication sorted out. It is many times more effective now than before and allows me for most of the time, to be able to do things, such as writing this letter, in a normal human way. That was not possible before and is a marvellous improvement in my ability to live more or less normally, for such time as I have left. Right from the moment she was admitted she was very contented and she felt thoroughly protected. The facilities and the environment are superb, as well as having the skilled care of so many dedicated people. It was so immensely helpful too that whenever any of us were visiting, we received the same degree of support and consideration. Over the past few years- like thousands of others- we have taken part in events and activities to raise funds for the new hospice, and it has been very heartening to see at first hand how well that money has been utilised
Corporate Partnerships St Richard s Hospice works hard to build strong, mutually beneficial partnerships, bringing enhanced benefits for your business, our charity and the wider community across Worcestershire We want to understand your business motivations, strengths and aims. We can then build a forward-thinking and progressive partnership. We wish to support organisations who really want to help their community and understand their motivations for doing this. Our secret to creating an effective partnership is simple: understand each other develop an innovative and individual plan together constantly evaluate. The benefits for your company and employees Association with a longstanding and respected charity can increase customer loyalty and brand awareness Improved staff motivation and team confidence through employees taking part in fundraising and team activities Help planning and creating your own event for a specific campaign.the Fundraising Team is dedicated to your company and employees Enhanced and increased PR Getting your name in front of thousands through our hospice website, newsletter, e-newsletter and Facebook page Unique sponsorship opportunities to increase brand exposure throughout Worcestershire St Richard s Hospice has years of experience of working with businesses of all shapes and sizes! Partnerships have successfully developed with independent family firms to national chains Customers and staff perceive you and your business as a company that cares for and supports its local community Staff and customers are welcome to visit the hospice to see the impact that your company and employees can really make on people s lives Established events throughout the year, managed and organised by our professional fundraisers, are ideal for corporate team building, corporate entertaining or company celebrations Supply of promotional literature for your fundraising including posters, flyers, tickets, sponsor forms We have a collection of promotional materials such as collection buckets and tins, banners etc to help publicise your support and will endeavour to have a representative at your event Without our supporters St Richard s Hospice would cease to exist. Every company and employee working to support us is vital to our continuation and growth.
How you can get involved a few ideas Christmas Card Poster Instead of sending Christmas cards, why not take one of our special posters write your festive message and make a donation to St Richard s Hospice. Take Part in one of our Challenges Encourage your workplace or club to take on a challenge! Choose from walks, bike rides, runs, skydiving or our annual corporate team challenge. Please look at website for an up-to-date list of events, There is something for everyone. Which one will you choose? Donate an item for a raffle or auction Would your company be able to donate a prize for us to raise funds at one of our events? This is a good way to help raise money and give your company name a push too! Volunteering Donating your time is an excellent way of supporting the hospice. Could your company, club or organisation spare a few hours to help with collections, raffle ticket selling or marshalling at events Matched Giving If you are taking on a challenge and raising funds please check if your company does Matched Giving as they may double your donation! Charity of the Year and employee Fundraising To nominate a charity of the year or a preferred charity we would love to work with you on an ongoing basis. If we need to complete an application form or you would like us to do a talk to a group then please let us know. We are always keen to tell people more about our charity or indeed show you around the hospice. Between us we can plan a whole array of fundraising and PR. Sponsor an Event Sponsorship enables your company name to benefit from positive publicity sponsorship packages are available for all sorts of challenges, lunches, balls and sporting events.
Treat your customers or employees and join in one of our events Why not take a table at our celebratory annual ball (held in November), an ideal way to thank employees, suppliers or customers just before the festive season begins. Enjoy sporting events? Horse Racing, Polo and Cricket are just a few of our favourites! Or just come along to one of our lunches or dinners! Corporate hospitality is our speciality. Please look at website for an up-to-date list of events, Donated Goods If your company has end of line goods that are no longer needed why not give them to one of our many charity shops. Visit Could you supply water for one of our challenges, energy bars for our runners or flowers or gifts for table decorations? All these help us to save event costs and raise more money at every event. Save your used stamps Save your used stamps from home and work and drop them in to the hospice. A simple idea that costs you nothing but brings in cash for us! Make a straight forward donation Many companies simply like to make a straight forward one-off donation and benefit from tax relief for the company. Alternatively, as an employee you may be able to influence your company to give a grant through a foundation. Leave work early or come in late Initiative Fancy a lie in or an early finish? Why not ask your boss to allow staff to come in an hour late or go an hour early if they make a specific donation to St Richard s Hospice. Gift of shares Companies can make a gift of shares to St Richard s Hospice. There are lots of benefits for corporation tax purposes in doing so.
What companies say about us We at Pendragon feel proud and privileged to be Business Patrons for St Richard s Hospice. Raising money for such a worthwhile cause whilst enjoying various events and experiences together is a perfect combination. A visit to the Hospice leaves you so uplifted that you go away in the certainty that you will encourage colleagues and friends alike to share in supporting St Richard s. Phil Humphreys, Director, Pendragon Packaging, Malvern Helping St Richard s is rewarding on so many levels, not only do the workforce get the warm glow of feeling good about being able to help, the people you are doing it for are genuinely grateful and pleased that we bother it s a pleasure to be able to help! Many staff have taken on challenges from half marathons to panto horse races and had great fun in the process. Simon Scott, Chief Executive of BookOTel Limited Worcester Racecourse has worked closely with St Richard s Hospice for almost a decade and during that time, has helped raised thousands of pounds through a variety of fundraising events including Ladies Race Days, Emmerdale Celebration Dinner, Ladies lunch with Jilly Cooper, Pantomime horse race days and the annual car raffles. The Hospice is a cause very close to our hearts and the work that they do touches all of us. The association with the Hospice is a very important part of the annual marketing of the Racecourse because through the events that we host we reach a wide network of people in Worcestershire. Jenny Cheshire, Commercial Manager, Worcester Racecourse As a local funeral director, running a small family business, I come into contact most days with a family that has been devastated by cancer. I am privileged that I am a business patron for the hospice and having visited there on many occasions, I have always found it to be humbling, emotional yet a happy place to be. It provides comfortable homely surroundings. Thanks to St Richard s Hospice staff and volunteers, the pain for families is eased and memories of their last days with their loved one made special. We are extremely fortunate to have this service given by people who truly care and give more than their time. The last funeral arrangements I made with a family, the widow said they even let our dog visit, my husband loved it How special is that? Paula Hill, E Hill & Son We support St Richard s Hospice with every confidence that the funds raised are spent locally on improving the lives of patients and their families. If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded. Maya Angelou. Andrea Borwell-Fox, Director, Borwell Software Ltd, Malvern Andrew Grant LLP considers it a privilege to be a supporter of St Richard s Hospice. Andrew personally feels honoured to have lead the Fundraising Board in its early years and particularly the successful multi-million pound pursuit of the superb, current Wildwood Drive location. Andrew and his staff remain proudly committed to being partners in the constant drive to achieve and exceed the demanding yearly goals of service to the Worcestershire community. And why? Is it because The Hospice is a necessary place? Of course. A worthy place? Yes again. But more, because it is a wonderful and happy place, full of warmth and comfort, and hope and laughter, all in such challenging moments. Anyone who visits the Hospice comes to know it is as a beautiful home of personal peace and security, so extraordinarily important in ensuring the calm, dignity and happiness of its residents. Andrew Grant and Partners recognise that the work, the staff and volunteers of St Richard s are magnificent. We appreciate that the Management Board and Trustees are deeply serious and impressive. Grants are constantly humbled by the brilliance of the people and the purpose that make up St Richard s Hospice. We thank them for allowing us to be their partner. Gerard Smith BSc (Hons) Est Man. FNAEA, Partner, Andrew Grant LLP We (Txtlocal) are delighted to be working with St Richard s Hospice, who are benefitting from our Charity Short Code service. This gives supporters the ability to make instant donations via SMS, allowing for greater value for St Richard s Hospice to fund the fantastic work they do. We, at Txtlocal are extremely proud to support such a dedicated and worthwhile charity. By working in partnership with St Richard s Hospice, Txtlocal have been invited to speak at Institute of Fundraising conferences and National Association of Hospices forums which has given TxtLocal the opportunity to market the SMS service to a wider audience. The relationship is definitely mutually beneficial. Alastair Shortland at Txtlocal
Payroll Giving Let us benefit from your pay day too! Payroll giving is a tax efficient way for employees to make regular payments directly to charity. St Richard s Hospice benefits hugely from regular donations as it allows us to plan ahead with our vital services. The good news is that gifts taken through your pay benefit from tax relief at your top rate of tax, meaning your actual donation costs you less the tax man pays the difference. Donor pledges 5 standard rate tax pays 4 higher rate tax pays 3 Donor pledges 10 standard rate tax pays 8 higher rate tax pays 6 Donor pledges 20 standard rate tax pays 16 St Richard s Hospice gets 5 higher rate tax pays 12 St Richard s Hospice gets 10 St Richard s Hospice gets 20 Giving on a regular basis helps us to pay for the essential running costs of the hospice. Your donation will be supporting the whole care package- our doctors and nurses, maintaining our exceptional facilities and providing all the extras that make St Richard s Hospice so special to our patients and families. Even better news- if you are a 50% tax payer, for every 100 the hospice receives, you pay only 50. If you are interested in payroll giving please contact rjones@strichards.org.uk for more information. If your employer or pension provider does not already have a payroll giving scheme in place, fear not it can be set up easily! The HM Revenue and Customs website also has lots of useful information and a list of approved payroll giving agencies. Visit Pennies from Heaven Scheme (For large organisations of 500 plus) Quite simply, net salaries are rounded down to the nearest pound on a monthly basis. With the spare pennies donated to St Richard s Hospice. The most anyone can give per month is 0.99 or p.a ( with Gift Aid) with an average of 6.00 ( 7.50 with Gift Aid) It is easy to do! PFH provide the licence, customised artwork/application forms, marketing and branding, and distribute the donations to St Richard s Hospice in accordance with the company s instructions. LET YOUR PAY DAY BE OUR PAY DAY!
