SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES The Operation 24 Challenge On Wednesday 28 June, 2017 St Vincent s Hospital Melbourne transforms Federation Square into the Tour de France, where 24 corporate teams will ride for 12 hours, in a challenge event like no other. Test yourself against some of the famous climbs of the Tour de France and help St Vincent s take its leadership in bioengineering to the next level by raising $200,000 for the Advanced Biofabrication Centre in this extraordinary race to save lives. All monies raised by participants and their supporters will go directly to this cause. Help Turn Dreams into Reality Disorders such as cancer, trauma and degeneration lead to reduced lifespan and impact on quality of life and the ability to live independently. Our vision is to create a dedicated hub the Advanced Biofabrication Centre bringing together medicine, engineering, science and industry to revolutionise how we approach medical solutions to these chronic health problems. The ability to build organs, bones, nerves and even muscle to literally replace body parts - will deliver life-changing opportunities for our patients! The Centre will be Australia s first robotics and biomedical engineering centre, embedded within a hospital. It will lead to discoveries such as the world first heel implant. In 2015, St Vincent s surgeons used a 3D printer to help build a new heel bone for Victorian grandfather, Len Chandler (pictured), preventing him from losing his leg to cancer. Surgeon, Professor Peter Choong, with assistance from industry partners, used scans of Len s left heel bone to create a 3D image of his right one. The team then used the 3D version to help construct an exact titanium replica of the bone which had been taken over by cancer. Len s heel replacement made international headlines. It was a medical triumph and testament to the passion of surgeons at St Vincent s who were not content with the status quo. Operation 24 is a fantastic bike riding experience serving a very meaningful cause. Not only can you celebrate the great work of St Vincent s Hospital, while promoting an active lifestyle, but it allows you to have some serious fun along the way! St Vincent s Hospital Melbourne As a tertiary public healthcare service, St Vincent s provides acute medical and surgical services, emergency and critical care, aged care, diagnostics, rehabilitation, allied health, mental health, palliative care and residential care, as well as undertaking research and educating the next generation of healthcare professionals. We have over 5,000 staff and 848 beds. St Vincent s strives to never lose sight of what makes our service unique. We understand that each patient is an individual with their own hopes and fears. We acknowledge the whole person, not just their illness. The essence of St Vincent s lies in our approach to the smaller, day-to-day interactions with our community; these are the defining moments that transform care from good to exceptional.

The Ride Join us and take part in a cycle ride of a lifetime as 24 ProForm Tour De France Bikes are kept in continuous motion for 12 hours, along some of the most picturesque and challenging sections of the Tour de France route. Each team will have 6-24 team members and participants can choose how long they travel on the bike, with a minimum time being 30 minutes. Bikes must have a participant on throughout the 12hr period, with stop-breaks allowed for participant change-over. The challenge is for the team to cycle as much of the Tour de France course as possible for 12 hours - from 7am until the Challenge ends at 7pm. The event will be fully supported with food and water suppliers, bike technicians and medical assistance - and plenty of entertainment, and gifts to be won during the Challenge. Presentations will take place at the end of the Challenge, with winner s drinks for race champions, and lots of incentives along the way! The ride caters to all levels of cycling strength, however we do recommend that if you have any concerns to consult your GP prior to the event. Teams taking part in the event need to pre-register and are charged a registration fee (corporate packages available at $10k), plus each team raises a minimum of $6,000. Going from the possibility of an amputation to where you preserve the limb on account of one (replacement) bone is rewarding if you can achieve it, says Professor Peter Choong, Director of Orthopaedics at St Vincent's. Science advances have allowed us to consider 3D printing of bones. We printed a heel that s an example of how we re transferring science and research into practice.

Events Operation 24 will feature an information session pre-event where you can see a bike in action. There will also be VIP drinks post-event for winners of the Challenge and top fundraisers, plus many online resources for riders to find information about fundraising and training. When The Challenge will be held on Wednesday, 28 June 2017 and will take place at Federation Square in Melbourne from 7am to 7pm. From restoring sight to the blind, to limb repair and regeneration, biomedicine has the potential to heal and treat illness in ways that have never been possible before. Who Cyclists are welcome from all over Australia to participate in the Operation 24 Challenge! Some will be St Vincent s very own doctors or patients. Some riders are trained pros, weekend warriors or haven t been on a bike for a few years! This is a corporate challenge event and there are age restrictions on who can use the bikes. Children can of course come down and cheer on participants and if they would like to support St Vincent s on another occasion then they are welcome to register for our annual Scrubs Run in Princes Park, Carlton North free of charge

Sponsorship Opportunities Operation 24 presents a number of different sponsorship opportunities to associate your company s brand with its support of St Vincent's Foundation and advances in bioengineering. 9 Corporate Support and Employee Fundraising Employee fundraising has real benefits for the employer, employee and for St Vincent s Hospital. By encouraging staff to work together on fundraising projects, and by participating in a team challenge, you give them the opportunity to develop their team work and acquire new skills. Not only can this improve staff morale and motivation; it can also enhance your company s image with employees, suppliers, investors and the community. Many of our corporate supporters report positive benefits in terms of: Increased customer loyalty and relationships with the community. Improved staff engagement, leading to enhanced morale, teamwork and retention. Positive name branding and positive PR coverage for the company. Enhancing work life balance for employees. A general feel-good factor in fulfilling social responsibility. Operation 24 also provides you with the opportunity to contribute to the future health and well-being of your staff, colleagues, family and friends. Guide to Fundraising Recruit a team A minimum of 6 people and up to 24 people can join your team in support of St Vincent s Hospital. If you need some extra supporters why not invite family, friends and colleagues who may also want to be part of the event and raise funds to support the Advanced Biofabrication Centre. Let them know how much fun they will have and how they can make a difference! Supporting employees Encourage employee activities and help them achieve their fundraising targets: Regularly and actively share corporate motivations behind supporting St Vincent s Hospital. Set weekly or monthly goals for team members to keep the competition and momentum going amongst staff. Display event posters around your offices, circulate staff updates by , encourage other employee support to fundraise for your team. Register and fundraise To register and for more details visit and sign up to Everyday Hero. Everyday Hero is an online event fundraising platform that has some great tips and advice on how to fundraise. Personalise your fundraising page Effective fundraising pages tell a story and contain a picture. Use this as an opportunity to share your organisation s involvement with St Vincent s and why raising funds for the Advanced Biofabrication Centre is so important.

Set a fundraising target Aim high with your team fundraising target, and encourage each of the team members to do the same. This will help to motivate the team and your donors. Donate yourself Set the standard and make a large donation to your own team fundraising page. This will show your dedication to the cause and will often dictate the average amount others will give. Double your money Many companies offer a matched giving scheme and will contribute to the amount that you raise. There are other ways your work can help from providing a venue for an event or prizes for a raffle. Get the word out everyone you know including friends, family, colleagues and suppliers. Most people want to help, especially if you explain your connection to the hospital and the cause. Many people might intend to support your team but don't get around to it straight away. That's why it is worthwhile asking for support a number of times in the lead up to the event. Using and social media is a great way to spread the word about your business alignment and fundraising efforts for Operation 24. Facebook, LinkedIn, twitter, and YouTube, are just some of the tools available to spread the word to your networks. Ask your director to mention it in an all-staff meeting. Add a line with your EveryDay Hero page link to the bottom of your signature. Set up a text giving code St Vincent s can help you with a text to donate number which you can use to help fundraise. You can include this number in your and ask to make it even easier for people to sponsor you. Get Creative Whether it s a face-to-camera personal message or your heroic attempts at a Tour de France-style sprint finish, an emotive or entertaining home video posted on YouTube could encourage donations. This gives you the chance to be as creative and quirky as you like and to add your personal touch. Send a video with your EveryDay Hero ask, or with a later updating people on your training (with another cheeky sponsorship reminder included!).

Collecting Donations Your team s Everyday Hero online fundraising page is the easiest and most efficient way to collect donations. St Vincent s will assist with establishing your page upon event registration. From the team page, members can create their individual team member page to commence fundraising. They can easily share their involvement with friends, family and colleagues and donations are able to be collected by credit or debit card from anywhere in the world. Team members should follow these simple steps to get their individual fundraising underway. 1. Make a contribution to their own Supporter Page. It sets a great example and shows potential donors your commitment to the cause 2. the page link to at least 30 friends and family, really using all of their networks 3. Share the team page link via their social media accounts. Did you know? The top three things successful supporters include when asking for donations are: What: Ask for a specific donation amount (ie $50) often people just don t know how much to give and sometimes this uncertainty can stop them from donating. Those who ask for a specific donation amount raise on average 184% more than those who just ask generally. Why: Tell people why your business is sponsoring St Vincent s and why you care about the cause share your passion for the hospital explaining why you chose this event. Those that explain why receive up to 121% more donations. How: Explain how the amount you are hoping to raise will help the hospital. St Vincent s Foundation is there to help For further information about the hospital or the Advanced Biofabrication Centre visit or call (03) St Vincent s Foundation can also offer engagement sessions to corporate partners to discuss fundraising objectives and share information on the hospitals values and aspirations, customer base, and cause, in order to better inform team and individual fundraising strategies.

Accelerating Discoveries Together! St Vincent s has a great tradition of excellence and innovation and with your support we can help revolutionise patient treatment through total limb reconstruction and nerve and muscle regeneration. We look forward to creating a partnership that contributes to meeting your marketing objectives, maximises your positioning and helps St Vincent s take its leadership in bioengineering to the next level. Your Support Will Make a Real Difference Thank you for taking the time to consider supporting the hospital and for further information please contact: Jill McKenna Major Events and Corporate Partnerships Manager St Vincent s Foundation Jill.Mckenna@svha.org.au (03) For further details please visit
