On Saturday, August 12, Fredericksburg #4123 was pleased to host a Welcome Home Party for brother Jerry Sullivan to celebrate the end of his terrific year as Grand Worthy President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. More than 300 people joined us for the testimonial and roast including Grand Aerie Officers from across the United States and Canada as well as State officers past and present and many of our local brothers and sisters. Congratulations again to Jerry on a great year. Welcome home. You ve been missed! At the Grand Convention in Grand Rapids, MI in July, he presented Dorey Nelinger of the Lupus Research Alliance a grant for $50,000 and then surprised her with a second check for $160, raised by Brothers and Sisters of the Eagles. Jerry, Maxine and the Sullivan Family would like to thank everyone who donated to this cause through the year.

2 News From Our Eagle Riders Our planned ride to Charlestown on July 29 th was rained out. We hope to reschedule it for some time in September. Save the Date! Out next LuLaRoe Vendor event will be Saturday, November 18 th --- just in time for Christmas shopping! At our September meeting, we determine what day we will be riding to Graves Mountain. Bring your calendars so we can get a date that works. Find us on the Internet: On the web: On Facebook: Fredericksburg Eagles Children s Christmas Party Sign-up The Children s Christmas party will be held on Saturday, December 16 th from noon to 2:00pm. You MUST sign-up your child(ren) for the party by November 20 th. There will be a sign-up sheet available at the Children s Halloween party (October 28 th ) and also a sign-up sheet on the Secretary s window. Please don t forget to sign-up your child(ren) by November 20 th or they will be turned away at the door on December 16 th. NO EXCEPTIONS! A Word From your Delegate Chairman I would like to start off with a big THANK YOU to everyone for the help with the State convention. Next up is for all the Delegates to get their 6 hours for this year so you can have your way paid to Staunton next June. We are looking for help with the Anniversary party on September 16 th. This is a great way to start getting your hours. There will be a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the Social Room. Any questions, please don t hesitate to contact me. There will be kid s games, activities, bake raffles, vendor raffles, crafts and more! 3 From the Worthy President Brothers and Sisters, I hope everyone had a great summer. Autumn is coming, leaves will be changing and children are heading back to school. Drive carefully and watch out for the children and school buses so all will be safe. The Anniversary party is coming up on September 16 th. I hope everyone will come and have a great time. Have a fun and safe Labor Day. Mike Courtney Worthy President Casino Bus Trip It is time for another Bus Trip to Hollywood Casino and Slots in Charlestown, WV! The cost of the trip is $35 per person with $20 in casino cash given back upon arrival at the casino. All proceeds will benefit the s Overall Charities Fund. The bus will leave the commuter lot on Route 17 on Saturday, September 9 th at 2pm and will leave the casino at 10pm to return. Payment is REQUIRED to hold your seat. Social Room Activities Stop by one evening and check out what s happening in the Social Room: TUESDAYS beginning after the weekly drawing (around ). Bring your instrument and join in or just come listen. WEDNESDAYS Line dancing it s great exercise and lots of fun. Whether you re an old pro or just starting out, it s fun for everyone. Halloween Activities for Everyone! Children s Halloween Party The Children s Halloween Party will be Saturday, October 28 th from 1pm to 3pm. Bring your children/grandchildren and have a ghouling good time! Adult Halloween Dance The will be having an Adult Halloween Party on Saturday, October 28 th from 8pm to midnight. Dress up in your favorite costume and come do the Monster Mash with Patsy s Country Classics. $5 per person, members and guests only. Trunk or Treat Last year, we held our first Trunk or Treat in the parking lot and had a great time decorating our vehicles and giving out candy to children in the community. This year, we plan an even bigger event on Tuesday, October 31 st from 6pm-8pm. Prizes will be awarded for most decorated and people s choice. Come decorate your vehicle or just bring the children to enjoy a safe night of trick or treating. 4 Crab Feast Oct 14 The Aerie is planning a Crab Feast for Saturday, October 14 th from noon to 5pm. Tickets will be $25 per person and will include crabs, hamburgers, hot dogs and draft beer. Only 300 tickets will be sold. Members will only be allowed to sign in ONE GUEST. Tickets are available in the Social Room. Get Your 50/50 The Aerie and have started month-long 50/50 raffles. Tickets will be sold all month with the winning ticket drawn on the last day of the month in the Social Room at 8pm. The winning ticket holder will be award ½ of the amount taken in on the raffle. Tickets are $2 each and will benefit the Aerie and Overall Charity Funds. A new raffle will begin on the first of each month. Please support this cause by purchasing your tickets in the Social Room or from and Aerie/ member. State Sporting Events Mark your calendars for the following State Sporting events being planned: GOLF Saturday, September 30 th at Ironwood Golf Club in Staunton, VA. Celebrate Our Anniversary Sep 16 Fredericksburg #4123 will be having their Anniversary dinner and program on Saturday, September 16 th. The schedule of events is as follows: 5-6pm Happy Hour; 6-7pm Dinner; 7-8pm Program; 8pm-midnight Dance. The program includes awards for Teacher, Policeman and Fireman/EMT of the year. Awards for Eagle and Lady Eagle of the Year will also be presented. Please join us in honoring these special people from our community. The event is free to #4123 Members (you MUST show your dues card) and guests. Each member may sign in one guest. Wagfoot will be providing the entertainment for the Dance. A Grand Time! The delegation that travelled to Grand Rapids, MI for the Grand Convention in July had a wonderful time. We were honored to be there as Jerry Sullivan presided over the convention proceedings. During the week, the FOE awarded $706, in grants to a variety of causes. In addition, the Eagles raised $19, for the Charity Foundation through daily 50/50 drawings. Make plans now to attend next year s Grand Convention in Dallas, TX the week of July 8-13, Corner Aerie Membership has approved the purchase of a new electronic sign for out front of the building. Aerie Membership has also approved painting the interior (Social Room side) of the building. The 4 th of July party in the Social Room was a success and enjoyed by many of our members. We are planning a similar Labor Day party for Monday, September 4 starting at 4pm with the Daily Drawing, Queen of Hearts and 50/50 at their regularly scheduled time. Come out to the Aerie Please be mindful of the dress code for events in the Dance Hall: no t-shirts, tank tops, sweat shirts, shorts, bib overalls, work clothes, halter tops, etc.; all shirts with a tail must be tucked in; no caps, hats, do-rags, cigarettes or drinks on the dance floor. Please dress appropriately. State President Karen Congratulations to our Sister, Karen Deviers who was installed as Virginia State Madam President at the State Convention in Winchester in June. Karen is a 20+ year member of Fredericksburg #4123. We know she will represent us well as State President. We will be raising money all year to support SMP Karen s Charity The Fairy Godmother Project which supports families facing pediatric cancer by helping to alleviate some of their day-today stress so they can better care for their children. Please join us in supporting Karen and this great cause! and celebrate the holiday with us. We are in the planning stages of a Crab Feast for October 14 th. Please plan to come help us celebrate our Anniversary on September 16 th. There will be a social hour, dinner, program and dance. We ask that while the program is in progress that you please give your undivided attention to honor our guests for their accomplishments in our community. Thank you from the Board of
