2 Jam Jar Campaign Change for the Better Following the success of the Jam Jar campaign, we are continuing to promote our stickers. We have now raised over 2,800. Let s make it 4,000 by the end of It s really simple to get involved Contact the BTRS office on (option 1) or info@btrs.org.uk to request your free jam jar sticker. 2. Take an empty jar and stick your Change for the better sticker to the front of it. 3. Put your jar somewhere that you will see it every day. 4. Fill your jar with loose change. Have you given something up for the new year? Why not put the money you re saving into the jar? 5. When the jar is full, bank those valuable coins and notes and donate them to BTRS in the following ways: a) Make a cheque out to BTRS and post to BTRS, 31 Otley Road, Leeds, LS6 3AA. b) Make an online donation by visiting c) Drop the jar off at the BTRS office (address above). 6. 3 MAR FRI Flat Cap Friday Date: Every Friday in March Now in it s fourth year, Flat Cap Friday has become a flagship campaign in the BTRS calendar, raising funds and awareness as part of Brain Tumour Awareness Month in March. How can you get involved? We are encouraging all of our supporters to don a flat cap on any Friday in March and host their own fundraiser with friends family and work colleagues. Your event can be as simple or as extravagant as you want it to be from organising a cake and coffee morning (don t forget the Yorkshire parkin), running your own Yorkshire themed quiz night or even hosting your own Yorkshire games! 4 MAR FRI Design your own Flat Cap Flat Cap Friday Date: Every Friday in March We are hoping to get as many children aged between 3-11 years old involved with our Flat Cap Friday, Design your own flat cap campaign. The concept is simple, children are asked to design their own flat caps while getting sponsored by friends and family along the way. All designs will be submitted to the BTRS team and three overall winners will be chosen. The three winners will see their designs come to life in the form of their very own Yorkshire made flat cap! The campaign is being supported by AW Hainsworth and Yorkshire based flat cap company Kempadoo Millar. 5 MAY 12 Yorkshire 3 Peaks Date: Saturday 12 May Venue: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside & Ingleborough Entry: 50 registration fee 100 fundraising target The Yorkshire Three Peaks is a one day challenge trekking three mountains, over 25 miles all in just 12 hours! You ll be trekking the three highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. This is a great event to do with friends, family or work colleagues and a brilliant opportunity to enjoy the breath-taking views and rugged scenery that Yorkshire has to offer. The challenge is to complete this walk in under 12 hours. You will need to have a good level of fitness in order to cover the 25 miles. Page 5

6 JUN 23/24 Total Warrior Leeds Date: Saturday 23 June Sunday 24 June Venue: Bramham Park, Leeds Entry: 40 registration fee 300 fundraising target Following an incredibly successful event in 2017, BTRS are delighted to once again be one of the lead charities in the 2018 Total Warrior Leeds event. Bramham Park offers the most magnificent of settings. A spectacular stately home surrounded by rolling hills and woodland. This is one heck of a course. Don t let the serene stately home setting fool you into thinking any different. Come prepared for 30 punishing obstacles and earn your free victory beer. 9 AUG 01 Yorkshire Day Skydive Date: Wednesday 1 August Venue: Bridlington Air Field Entry: 70 deposit required on booking 395 fundraising target Join us to celebrate Yorkshire Day and soar through the air in this incredible adrenaline fuelled challenge. Imagine standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet - the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and letting go - falling forward into the clouds, skydiving down through the air as you start freefalling at over 120mph! No experience is required as all training is given and if you raise the minimum sponsorship you can receive your skydive for free! 10 SEP 09 Great North Run Date: Sunday 9 September Venue: Newcastle Entry: 30 registration fee 275 fundraising target BTRS are thrilled to be involved in the UK s most popular and iconic half marathon and have a limited number of places available for Runners travel from all across the UK and the world to take part in this fantastic event, which attracts some of the biggest sporting names such as running legend Mo Farah! The route starts off in Newcastle, and takes in some iconic sites such as the Tyne Bridge, passing through Gateshead and then finishing in South Shields.
